(kunge) (2025)

Image description: A figure in a dark suit sits at a wooden desk in a dimly lit office. The only illumination comes from a small adjustable desk lamp casting a soft yellow glow on stacks of paper arranged on either side of the workspace. The person's back faces the viewer as they work late into the night. Through a small window with partially closed blinds on the right side, distant city lights twinkle against the night sky.

So, went to get my mail, saw a package. I was already expecting one, so blah, blah, blah, I opened it and quickly realized it wasn't my package. It's a tirara, as well as a bracelet. I looked up the brand and, thankfully, they're not diamonds or anything crazy, but they range from $150 to almost $700, either scale being expensive to me. And a tirara has to be an event, which makes it even worse. I checked for an order slip to reference the number, but it's only the tiara. I don't recognize the name, and I've been at this address for a few years. Do I just return to sender and hope for the best? Community post?

A LITTLE VENT I was on reddit on the r/autism and i read something on the rules that made me doubt my autism (that the raads-r is not a reliable tool for diagnosis, but i accidentally glossed over the part that said "unless the results are evaluated in a clinical setting", which happened in my case) and this user came and said that the RAADS (which is not the test i took) and the AQ (autism quotient, which i never took) have a high false positive rate, followed by, get this, links from a paper funded by autism speaks and old research. When i first read their reply i explained in the greatest detail i could the proocedings of my diagnosis, but then when i called my older brother (he's kinda my anchor in this chaos that is my life and even assisted me during the diagnostic process) he reassured me that my diagnosis is valid because it was interpreted by a professional clinician and helped me sort it out. That's when i found out that the papers the redditor sent were either pretty old in modern neuroscience terms or funded by autism speaks, and not only that, they seem to be one those "elitist" autistic people that bash self-diagnosed people in spite of them mostly not having the money for an assessment, and them just invalidating them thinking they were all influenced by social media to think so. I've felt so down these few days because of this self-doubt and seeing this really pissed me off, to send outdated research and autismspeaks funded research to a person struggling with doubt, it is downright cruel in my opinion. moral of the story: to hell with reddit unrelated pic

Hey, Privacy community! I wanted to share my personal experience with quitting YouTube, a journey that has been both challenging and liberating.

Initially, I started my deGoogle journey by cutting back on various Google services, but when it came to YouTube, I found it incredibly hard to let go. I tried using alternatives like NewPipe and FreeTube—both fantastic FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) options that allowed me to access YouTube content without the usual Google baggage. However, despite these alternatives, I still felt trapped in the cycle of daily YouTube usage and the addictive nature of the platform.

To tackle this, I decided to take a more drastic approach. I implemented a DNS block using AdGuard DNS and NextDNS, which helped me create a network-wide blocklist for Google services. In the first two weeks, I found myself turning the DNS off occasionally, creating two profiles in NextDNS to allow Google services when I felt the urge creeping back in. It was a struggle, but I knew I needed to break free.

Gradually, I began replacing my YouTube watch time with journaling and diving into topics that truly interested me, particularly various philosophies. After about four weeks, I was amazed to find that I no longer felt the urge to watch YouTube at all! However, I still have my doubts about returning to the platform, fearing it might reignite my addiction and lead me back into a FOMO (fear of missing out) mindset. To safeguard against this, I’ve kept my no-Google filters active in NextDNS.

I also discovered alternatives like PeerTube, thanks to creators like The Linux Experiment and TechLore, who actively post content there. Platforms like Loop, Pixelfed, Mastodon, and Lemmy have also become integral parts of my online life, providing me with a sense of community and connection without the overwhelming distractions of YouTube.

By de-Googling and stepping away from YouTube, I’ve reclaimed so much of my life. While many tout YouTube as a great social platform for mental health, I’ve found the opposite to be true for me. Without the constant distractions and the pressure to consume content that often felt useless, I’ve experienced a newfound clarity and peace of mind.

Now, I have more time to help my mom, focus on my own projects, and enjoy moments of solitude that have significantly reduced my stress levels.

YouTube can be a helpful platform for many, but for me, it was a different story. I initially thought it would lead me to greater privacy and understanding of FOSS services, but instead, I found myself entangled in a web of privacy violations and creepy policies. The community here has been instrumental in guiding me toward FOSS alternatives that respect my privacy.

I’m curious—does anyone else have experiences with quitting YouTube or trying to? I’d love to hear your stories and insights!

AlternativeTo is a large database of software and online services focused on showing popular alternatives to applications. They have a lot of filters that you can use to find the right app for you and hopefully they will soon include an EU or country of origin filter!

Btw, it's a Swedish website.

I've noticed on this website a lot of Americans like to call their president their "big wet boy."

And I would like to notify them that in Ireland, the president (currently Michael Higgins, different guy than the taoiseach Micheál Martin) is Uachtarán na hÉireann (President of Ireland). Uachtarán means cream (like when cream rises, also why we say "cream of the crop" in English).

All of this to say, while America may have a big wet boy for now, Ireland always has and will always have a creamy boy.

I'm usually not one to beat a dead ~~Reman~~ ~~horse~~ being, but I had to point this one out.

As it turns out, besides also playing background characters in every episode Quimp appeared in, Tom Kenny also played Mariner's ex Malvus in "An Embarrassment of Dooplers", D'Onni in "We'll Always Have Tom Paris", the Ferengi antagonists of "Mugato Gumato", and several background characters in each of those episodes.

Does anyone know what happened to the developement of this mod, Heroes of Pixel Dungeon?

Posted on Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/PixelDungeon/comments/1fopyoc/introducing_my_mod_heroes_of_pixel_dungeon_and/

Developement seems to have ceased. The dev doesn't respond. His Github site only has the SPD repository cloned with no mods.

It seems that a beta mod was released in a limited fashion for testing but I cannot locate the apk.
