"I live in massacheusetts. We are a very blue state and one of the best places in the world to transition."
So stop speaking for the rest of us who suffer under the same system you thrive within because we lack the privilege that shields you.
Dickhead.
Your argument is good, but is it actually the case that it is not only among the best places in the world to transition but also a good place to transition?
If you have the money, stability, access to a supportive doctor, support networks etc to survive and be healthy America and thrive in that culture then sure maybe.
I see a lot of well off privileged trans femmes talking about how good America is to transition in and its always because they have the money to be healthy.
They ignore and erase the reality of being working class and trans in every conversation speaking about their experiences as transnwomen like it's somehow representative of the majority when they themselves are the privileged minority.
For anyone who doesn't earn enough to guarantee their hormones, job, income, bills, rent etc it doesn't matter where you are, neoliberalism will still break you and given that transitioning isn't all sunshine and rainbows and there's periods of intense dysphoria and depression as you deal with systemic transohobia.
In the end "Good" is relative to the material conditions and perspective of an individual.
So neoliberalism is only good relative to the individual and the commenter. Break it and build a better system where birth lottery and privilege don't open and close doors to you.
race is also a major factor. my white trans femme friends have never been harassed or attacked but I have - usually by other BIPOC. I've been chased out of pharmacies, out of restaurant bathrooms, out of grocery stores, and I've straight up been chased by a proud boy march that caught me off guard, with the clear intent to beat me. safety is relative to race and class.
Massively, just so happens most of the privileged trans femmes I'm criticising happen to white. Funny that.
In the end good is relative in a system where peoples experiences vary vastly based on arbitrary factors endorsed by a majority status quo.
its also just a massive "fuck you got mine" to all the trans people in the 3rd world the USA rolls over for imperialism.
I call it the "Caitlyn Jenner"
Nice but I'd argue she's a class above the dickheads I'm talking about. I haven't even gotten to her yet πͺ
