I’m not convinced that I will ever quite have the right sense of humour to have my own original memes take off here, but you guys make me want to stretch beyond my comfort zone.

I say just go for it. I sometimes make a dumb meme and post it thinking "This is probably only funny to me." and then I'm pleasantly surprised. Even when it doesn't land, it's still fun to make.

That's definitely been my approach. Much of the time an idea will crop up and I just slap something together. I've learned over time through trial and error. Even then, there are posts that don't "land" and that's ok.
