These wrap around sunglass wont make you look like a conservative dad. And for only $1,500, you too can not look like a conservative dad.

Yes, there are REALLY $1,500. A bargin if you ask me.

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

What the Leeloo's suspenders are those?

[–] JPSound@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

These are, and Im dead serious here, $1500 Oakley's.

[–] blackbrook@mander.xyz 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

You're not allowed to wear those unless you shave your head and put on a jump suit.

[–] Nikls94@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Tbh if you were to wear those and a lab coat, shaved head and a mustache you’d be a very, very crazy scientist

[–] blackbrook@mander.xyz 2 points 4 days ago

You are so right, I forgot about the mustache. But its got to be something like a horseshoe or a really big handlebar. Muttonchops might work too.

[–] Dr_Box@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

Instead you can be a techno-authoritarian autocrat thats plans are constantly ruined by an annoying blue hedgehog

Get some with color, conservatives are still afraid of being "gay".

Or just don't worry about it.

Or the answer to what a lab tech wears to the beach.

[–] sprite0@sh.itjust.works 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

i was mildly embarrassed about wearing my (black) pair of fitovers around until two seperate young people complimented them and then i realized they are old looking enough to be sort of retro!

now that i know they are Certified Cool i strut in em 😎

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 4 points 6 days ago

Time is a wheel. I mean fashion, fashion is a wheel.

Or a set of leavers connected to a pulley.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 3 points 6 days ago

OK, my answer to this was going to be "no" but these actually look cool. I hate those modern ones the kids wear. They're ugly (in my opinion), expensive, and made out of cheap materials. These have a similar vibe, but like they're made by someone who understand style, instead of thinking something that stands out is style. Looking at the review pictures though, they definitely do T work for everyone. In particular, they look best with people with darker hair/skin. The blonde pale women I think it looks weird on.

I'm a 31 year old man though. Don't take my opinion on style.

[–] Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.works 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I think this is more of a geographic problem than a fashion problem.

Just don't wear them with a red hat.

[–] fmstrat@lemmy.nowsci.com 6 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Julbo cycling glasses. They're also the best tint changing lens out there, but pricey, very pricey. They'll look sport-dorky, which is it's own weird vibe. I have these (got them on big sale) for cycling, hiking, and mountaineering. They have a non "cover" version that's more normal looking, too.

You do end up looking like Adam Jensen though.

Well, Adam Jensen with a fancy new beak aug.

[–] FinishingDutch@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone remotely fitting that description wearing a pair of these…

Oakley Radar EV path in ‘retina burn’ colorway.

[–] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

Make sure to get the kind without colored reflections. Mirrored might work, if you’re fit. Dark tinted is your best bet.

[–] Lorindol@sopuli.xyz 3 points 6 days ago

My eyes are very sensitive to light, so I've been using "Men in Black" - style wraparound sunglasses since the late 90's.

I am a dad, but pretty much as far from conservative one can be. Where I live conservative dads do not tend to use these at all.

[–] mp3@lemmy.ca 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Honestly I don't care, I wear what I think looks good on me.

In my case though it's my regular glasses + transitions because I can't see shit without them.

[–] LilB0kChoy@midwest.social 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Costco (maybe others too) have these new transition sunglasses and they work through your polarized windshield.

Basically they start out with a light tint but get darker depending on the amount of direct sunlight. I really love them because I don't have to switch going in and out of stores or whatever and I can wear them when it's partly cloudy without feeling like it's night out when under cloud cover.

[–] mp3@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

That's what I have, got my new glasses last month. Even got a dark-greenish tint when darken.

[–] SGGeorwell@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Maybe pair it with a Tshirt that explains the position you’re in

[–] Zwuzelmaus@feddit.org 3 points 6 days ago

"Grandpa,
and proud of it!"

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

I didn't even know sunglasses did that. Remember that when you're out in the real world you aren't on social media. Go ahead and wear whatever you want.

[–] Heikki2@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Any time I see people wearing these, my first thought is that these are "high-speed, BJ glasses"

[–] LilB0kChoy@midwest.social 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I wear these Ray-Bans with Costco's transition driveway lenses.

[–] ordinarylove@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 days ago (2 children)

i would clock those as conservative dad

no offense to you or your style lilbokchoy

[–] Cocodapuf@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago

Those are the most generic sunglasses I can imagine. I'm pretty certain they don't say anything.

[–] LilB0kChoy@midwest.social 3 points 6 days ago

No offense taken. I picked them because they fit the most comfortably for me.

My wife says I look like I'm on vacation this time of year because of how I dress in addition to the sunglasses.

[–] ashenone@lemmy.ml 3 points 6 days ago

The old man sunglasses from the 90s that go over your prescription glasses

wear thick linens and shaggy hair with beaded necklaces and you'll look more like a "guy who wont give his name" than any particular affiliation
