Rapping. Writing it, at least. And the best ever, obviously

I have a tendency to get fixated on something creative, and then pour hours and hours into it while not doing other things that I should be. As a result I have some eclectic creative talents, one of which was playing the musical instruments in Guild Wars 2. They let you play notes with the number keys and I got really into making arrangements and performing for people waiting for boss spawns. I played for hours just enjoying making music and I ended up being pretty well known in the community for a while. I would say only 2 or 3 other people were as good as me at one point. I'm out of practice now but it's always a treat when I hear someone playing one of my arrangements.

Keeping my neighbourhood tiger free. Hasn't been a sighting of a tiger here since I moved in. No sharks either.

Oh, and cooking. I'm pretty good at cooking. More than one set of friends have said I should apply to go on Masterchef but I have no interest in fancy plating and I'm not much of a puddings guy.

I have never been unsuccessful at getting traumatized shelter or farm cats to eventually relax and become super affectionate. It takes repeated exposure, it’s not a magic power. I learened how due to a fortune upbringing on a farm and lots of time to perfect my methods.

Building trees from LEGO. I've been considered the person to ask about this in the community.

Reading people.
Had some troubles with family members and drugs growing up, so you learn to read situations and people real fast. I guess it’s a survival skill as addicts often say and do what they need to to get their next fix.

A nice «skill» to have, even though I’d rather I didn’t need to develop it

Formal documents. Drafting, formatting, editing documents for legal submissions, complex advice and such.

There are some things I really like to do but I wouldn't say I ever got good at them, despite dumping lots of time into them.

So I guess you could say I got really good at accepting I'll never be really good at anything.

Procrastinating

Lumberjacking in Antarctica 10 out of 10. It's tough because there aren't any trees to practice on.

Tech/Software/Development. Apparently exceptional, or very good, I don't know.

Broad and deep knowledge, strong systematic thinking, experience, good intuition, seeking to improve my tools, docs, workflows, mindful and proactive of how we work together, and in including others…

I don't know if work as an escape is a good or bad thing. At least I got that going for me.

I like to think that I am good at root causing software issues.

Im good at building simple tech architectures by saying no to tech we dont need.

Unfortunately nobody listens, management keeps forcing the fastest shitty duck tape solution, and thinking its a great idea to copy paste entire tech environments because its the fastest.

Understanding things. Like, I learn rather quickly. I can take something apart and see how it works, I can debug code and understand what it does and usually why it does it that way.

In lectures, I don't need to be easily guided into the conclusion. If the pieces are laid out before me, I'll usually get it before the lecturer gets to that point.

I got a bit good at a board game called Go, it's the oldest board game still played. In Asia it is really big and has its own sports tv channel. I'm top 500 or so in Europe. Try it maybe, it's quite fun!

I'm a master of modesty, ask me what I'm good at and I will blush and touch the back of my neck and say stuff life "well shuucks...."

I have a real passion for software development. There are raw skills like algorithms that lots of other people are better at, but when it comes to API design, clean code, enacting principles of good architecture and UX, I think I am uncommonly good. Most of the people I work with don't care and frankly I think caring and practice is all it takes but somehow that's not something most people in the industry are capable of.

But I love making software that people like or at least hate less than what they had before.

Floors. Putting a cove flash vinyl floor* into some fuck-ass soiled linen room with 8 outside corners, 2 45deg corners and 9 inside corners is just a Tuesday. Have it prepped for me and I'll be ready to glue by break time.

The latest fresh bottle of bullshit is a 270m^2 that must be within the tolerance of 1mm up or down from reference. What the holy fuck is this shit? I hate it and never want to work with these people again.

*this is fucking hilarious, it's not difficult to cut under a desk and I think everyone can see it in the face of the "tractor dude" but hey if bossman likes to be dragged by his ankles, I'll drag him by his ankles.

Oil painting

I'm pretty good. I had a client donate two of my portraits of Patrick Mahomes to his foundation, which he signed and auctioned off, so somewhere in this country my signature is literally next to Patrick Mahomes' on his own portrait in some rich assholes' art collections.

I am very good at cooking now, like whatever I want to make I can AND I can take whatever we have and make something good, and I enjoy it, and people comment on it and want me to cook for them. Hobby level good, I would say. Food and drinks both, always something fermenting over here, and I love making cocktails (obviously).

All I know is that I don't know nothin.

Making logos. good enough that whenever my friends want a logo to be made for their brand or band they come right to me lol

I like to think I got pretty good at guitar. I'm no virtuoso but I've gotten to the point where I've been truly stoked about where I'm at skill-wise a couple times.

As a kid I always thought I'd plateau in my mid 20s and would never really progress from there but I'm 35 now and I feel like learning in general is still an easy thing to do, or at least get started on.
