On a community server.

Dungeons spawn below the map whenever you enter one. This is also the case with boss arenas.

If you climb out like this, you can sometimes watch players from a distance. Eventually it disappeared and I continued onward. Creepy~

Just got started with this game (PC - Steam version). It's fun so far. I had really wanted to use my controller. But, the aiming movement is so sluggish. I've tried pushing the "Aim Sensitivity" up to 10, but still felt like I was turning through molasses. Is there anything which can be done to speed that up, or is the controller just fundamentally slow on PC?

Using an Xbox controller via Bluetooth. And the issue isn't lag, it's the rotation speed in game.

... check that the breeding ranch is fully within your base's blue circle.

The building is massive, and the game lets you have part of it outside, but I ran into a ton of bugs with pals going into a weird state where they can't be assigned after they un-assign themselves to the pen (usually when fast travelling).

As per title, I am currently playing on Linux using Proton GE Custom latest version (8.27 but also tested 8.25).

My experience is the following.

Specs

  • Ryzen 7 7730U (8c/16t) Laptop
  • 16GB RAM (14 RAM + 2 VRAM)
  • Decent performance SSD
  • Ubuntu Linux 23.10 (with Xanmod 6.7 x64v3 Kernel)
  • Wayland

Experience

  • Could not test anything above Low settings due to severe stutter even in the menu and 95% RAM which lead to PC being stuck

  • At low settings with different resolutions (from 720 to fullscreen 1080) i have 80-85% RAM usage (starting from a 21% base load) and 25-ish FPS performances

Workarounds

  • Once you get the game installed, add it to Steam as a non steam game pointing directly to the game .exe, compatibility forced to Proton GE or Proton Experimental
  • If it gives you some Visual C++ dependencies error, use ProtonTrick to install it in the Steam prefix
  • I did not find any performance tips and tricks

Conclusion

While being playable, I feel that the game can see huge improvements on Linux. However, I think there is also a lot of telemetry (local or remote) / logging in the mix as every pre-release version has (looking at you My Time At Sandrock) and probably the graphics part (especially the engine part) needs to receive some improvements too, so I bet in about 1 month we will see a steady 40-ish FPS with those settings

Cheers

Sometimes, at completely random intervals, my FPS just drops and keeps dropping until I reset my game. The only thing that at the moment has worked is playing 720p, all low at 30FPS VSync off, and honestly, I hate this, although I love the game so I can live with it but I wish I can improve it somehow.

Sometimes, when I see a mountain in the distance my fps just drops to 20 and stays like that permanently, but when I restart the game I can see the mountain without any fps drop...

Usually it comes to a point where I feel like I'm dragging my mouse because of the input lag.

I have a GTX 1650s 4GB, 16GB RAM and a Ryzen 5 5500, and I use Arch Linux with i3wm, I know it's not the best setup and Palworld uses UE5 which is a high demand hardware graphic motor, but I have read about people playing on even lower hardware than me and they apparently can play perfectly.

Edit: Just add -dx12 to your game parameters at that's it, it runs as it should.

There definetly exists a few of us that want to play together; so let's do just that.

Please specify your platform as the game isn't cross platform except Xbox -> PC Microsoft Store.

I looked up a list of "known" combos but neither one I tried worked so I'm going to start writing down mine. I'm a masochist for minmaxing when I don't need to and want to power up some Lucky pals.

  1. Kingpaca (male) + Lucky Sweepa (female) = Melpaca - tried 6 eggs

  2. Bishu (male) + Lucky Melpaca = Foxcicle - tried 2 eggs

  3. Foxparks (male) + Lucky Melpaca = Maraith - tried 2 eggs

If you've tried any, can you post them below? Please include male/female because that might matter. I want a Kingpaca Cryst!

Apparently, this also explains feature differences between the Xbox and Steam versions on PC, Including why the PC game pass version of the game does not yet have DLSS support.

Palworld launched on January 19 in early access form on Steam as well as on Xbox and Windows PC, day-and-date with Game Pass. Palworld overtook CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077 to set Steam’s fifth highest peak concurrent player count with 1,291,967 online at the same time on Valve’s platform. Palworld is currently the most-played game on Steam, ahead of behemoths Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG. It is just the sixth game ever to hit one million concurrents on Steam.

IMO, Pocketpair has really smashed it with this one - hope the new revenue allows them to spend some time improving the game. Seen quite a few requests for voice actors being added to the NPCs as one example.

Thought I'd also add some FYIs here too:

  • Palworld is on Game Pass for PC and Xbox, so you may already have access
  • Multiplayer has been having a few issues with the load, may be worth considering joining or hosting a dedicated server if you plan to play with others. Singleplayer is unaffected by the server issues

Highlights:

In the 24 hours since the early access game came out it already eclipsed Starfield’s highest concurrent Steam player count

“We had an emergency meeting with the Epic Games team and had them add an update to the Epic Games backend at short notice. We have confirmed that this has resolved the connectivity errors and issues when hosting co-op games on Xbox and PC.”

The eggs may be underground. I went through like 5 cakes wondering what was going on until I walked up and "found" the new eggs under the pen

Here are some glitches I've found so far that are fun and interesting.

  • Food Refresh Press sort or move your food outside your inventory. It will be back @ 10:00

  • Pal-Catch Jump Throw a palsphere at any pal, then climb on top of the sphere. When it finishes shaking it will launch you flying into the sky - very goofy.

Synergies with the next glitch

  • Faster Sliding/Gliding Press 'C' to slide. When you slide down an incline, you pick up radical speeds. You retain speed as long as you never start walking. At max speed, feel free to jump into a glider and you will retain your speed. I recommend the Pal Killamari still over galeclaw. ... Finally, combine these two glitches. Find any of those Simba rocks jutting out of the ground or possibly use the bottom side of a roof ramp. Position your pal-capture underneath, then rocket into it. Inconsistent, but if you hit the right angle you will redirect your momentum horizontally.

  • Underwater Base Reddit warning: Here is the source for this glitch. I've been under the ocean, but not in the rivers. Pretty cool!

  • Utopia / How to get to the Tree https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNjupJF4mhM For early game... If you can capture a suzaku, you can allegedly fly over the wall. That will require level 40 I think. I did this on a dedicated and it was very calm here :)

  • Wall-Clip Summon a mountable pal near a wall, preferablly with terrain above the spot. Your pal should clip into the wall. Mount it to get inside. You'll have to do this to get back into terrain, but the dungeons have holes you can climb into. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS ON THE OTHER SIDE Worth noting, you can skip dungeon boss rooms by doing this. Should be possible to do high level dungeons and get silly loot early on ~~but idk what that even does at this point XD~~ like a rare handgun at level 14

  • Craft while AFK Only on steam. While crafting, hold Shit+Tab to overlay steam. You can now walk away without additional help. Do not press certain buttons like Alt+Tab or it will stop! Use the steam browser if you must.

  • Infinite Arrows Charge your arrow and aim. Instead of firing, switch to another tool. You will start swinging wildly, but also you'll notice your enemy took damage. Swap back to the bow and repeat forever.

  • Infinite Pal Spheres https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qa1jo5Br_Q

That's all I know so far. Share more if you find anything cool!!!----

Palworld is a really interesting fusion of genres - creature collecting, FPS, and base / factory building.

The creature collecting elements are strong even this early in the game - obviously you want to collect as many unique species of pals as possible, but there is also heavy incentive to collect individuals of species you already have. Each pal has unique traits that impact its work speed, work preferences, or combat strength, so you can spend some time collecting ideal pals. You also get extra exp for your first ten captures of a species, which is extremely important for progression. Finally, Palworld pulls some inspiration from Pokemon Legends: Arceus and has what it calls "Lucky Pals" - effectively alpha pokemon. These have boosted work capacity and battle capability.

I am not a huge fan of FPS games, so I can't speak as to how good the FPS elements are compared to other games. The combat generally feels very good - the hitboxes are on point, attacks are fast enough to be scary to dodge without feeling impossible. The first boss felt like a bit of a health sponge. I ended up dealing the majority of my damage myself rather than relying on my pals, which felt a bit sad, but I might just not be using the right pals.

Base building is extremely fun! Picking which pals work is a complex and meaningful choice, and watching them run around and go about their day is lovely. There are some bugs in this arena, which is to be expected - sometimes pals that are collecting items will get stuck in a loop of picking the item up, dropping it, picking it up again, forever. Sometimes pals get stuck on terrain and have to be reset using the palbox. Sometimes pals ignore jobs - this seems to largely affect heating jobs and handiwork jobs.

At this point in the game, I'm heavily dependent on my pals picking the right thing to work on, or else losing a lot of time assigning them to stations that are only active sometimes. I hope to see some refinement in these systems - a way to prioritize work would be extremely helpful. It would also be great to be able to set resource levels - something like "Keep 200 berries". Pals would work berry farms until you hit 200 berries in storage, then stop. I'm hoping for the complexity of factory building to continue to increase.

All in all I am loving the game so far - it's a lot of fun even in its current early access state, and shows a lot of promise going into the future.
