Lemmy offers the option to link a Matrix account to your Lemmy account. On the web interface, every Lemmy account to have done so shows a "Send encrypted message" button that directly links to that Matrix account.

Could such a button also be integrated into the Eternity app?

For those who don't know, direct messages on Lemmy aren't encrypted. They are, I think, exchanged via the ActivityPub protocol which doesn't provide for encrypted communication.

Matrix is a different federated, open source protocol, designed for encrypted direct messaging and encrypted group chats. It's a bit like Discord, but federated and open source. You can create an account for example on element.io which offers both a web interface and downloadable apps for most operating systems.

I am a bit surprised this is still an issue even tho I just downloaded the app. slrpnk.net updated to Lemmy 0.19.2 a couple days ago and I'm experiencing the Bad Cookie issue caused by the switch. I fixed it with the browser version, can't seem to fix it with any of the apps I've tried, including this one. The exact error message Im facing is "Can't fetch user info"

It seems like I'm not able to log in to Eternity with my account from the lemm.ee instance? I have been able to sign in with a lenmy.world account. I'm posting this from the Voyager app where I had no issue signing in.

Quick Home Button (sh.itjust.works)

Hi there! Thank you for having this app on F-Droid, and more importantly for creating this app! As a (former) user of Infinity, I'm really grateful to have basically the same app for Lemmy.

I'd like to give a bit of my input. Actually this is a bit of my pet peeve from the old app as well.

Compared to the other apps (e.g. Boost, Jerboa), this one does not provide a homing button (i.e. a clear way to return to top). While the Refresh button in the menu is useful, relying on that is less than ideal. It is awkward at best and confusing at worst.

I'm not sure if the general consensus here would agree (some input here would be appreciated), the general flow on social media app would be to simply press the home button to go to the top of the feed, occasionally swiping down to refresh. This has worked for me not only on Twitter & Instagram, but also on Mastodon apps (both the official app as well as Tusky), the other Reddit apps, as well as other Lemmy apps.

I noticed that the bottom nav bar is identical with the Reddit app. However, the two buttons on the left are redundant as they function exactly the same (due to Lemmy not having the equivalent to multireddit). Could we have the leftmost button as home? I feel like it's the de facto standard these days.

I'd like to know what y'all think!

Will we get scaled sorting in Eternity?

I have two accounts logged in.

A and B.

When I get a notification for something that happened on account A lets say, the "heading" (idk what to call it) lists account B but the notifications under it are clearly for account A.

1000011162

In the image above the two notifications are from account A but the "heading" is account B.

Usernames are shown as coloured blocks instead of letters.

Works fine on other apps.

Anyone else having a really hard time using eternity. Might won't load. Comments won't send. Everything hangs. Is it because server is overloaded or is it something else.

Pretty much unusable at the moment.

Had to force close program twice just to get to eternity to post.

I couldn't find a setting to enable gif autoplay. Is it hidden somewhere?

I have enabled video autoplay but the gifs are still not playing.

I'm using eternity v0.1.2 from fdroid.

Setting a favourite under Subscriptions causes the list of subscriptions to jump downwards a little as a new entry is added at the top of the list. This is annoying when I try to set multiple favourites in a row.

Crash Report (infosec.pub)

Opening this post (PC CD-ROM games at the hotel I stayed at) by hulemy@ani.social causes the app to crash every time. The same doesn't seem to happen in other apps (tested Sync and Voyager). Viewing the post in the feed is fine though (try here).

I liked the colour scheme for it and the tap to collapse comments immediately so made a theme for it! some pics below and the JSON for it if you wanna import it yourself. (it's in a spoiler below)

profile sidebar

homepage posts

comments view

It copies the colour scheme of jerboa and also uses tap to collapse comments.

If you were logged in to multiple Lemmy accounts on the app, you could easily tell which one is currently selected if they affected the colour scheme of the app.

65

Basically the title. It doesn't look like it does currently but maybe I'm missing something.

Basically title.

Since the login procedure seems to have changed, the app doesn't work anymore for accounts on already upgraded instances. So, alternative is using the browser or nothing at all. :(

Not sure if its just me, would like to see if all yall are facing the same issue. It's been a clear and consistent pattern.

From the comments, the post link in the Share menu is that of the poster's instance.

Pulling down to refresh a comments section just shows the loading animation forever and the page never refreshes. Tapping […] and then the Refresh option reloads the page instantly.

All of them show up on my own, but on other user profiles typically none will show up, or only a couple from a month ago.

I'm on the current nightly build.

Edit: never mind, this post doesn't show on my profile for me.

It's been some time since we received any updates. Will an upgrade to Lemmy 0.19 break the app?
