I mean, whenever I hear an alarm I ignore it, because I just hear it so often. But what if instead we used these types of alarms for real emergencies? For example a personal alarm to protect yourself.

It would have to be something that won't get accidentally activated all the time like car alarms do now (typically the "panic" button getting pressed accidentally in pockets/purses). Otherwise, I feel we'd be back to where we started.

Maybe something old school like a whistle or something?

I feel like this already exists and is called a rape whistle. Although, to be fair, I'm honestly not sure how effective that would be. If a woman is being attacked, would she have time to actually blow this whistle?

Have you heard of personal alarms? They're tiny but incredibly loud and typically has a bright flash light.

No, I have not actually heard of these. I will have to look them up. Thanks for the information.

I was thinking of getting one. But I'm afraid people would ignore it due to all the useless car alarms.

I don't know what he expected there. You give a room full of people whistles, and that's gonna happen. ๐Ÿ˜†
