Back when we thought he would be the most stupid president ever.

I hate that man with a burning fiery passion. But now that we've gone so much worse.. at times I miss him.

[–] G_Wash1776@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don’t, I know Trump was a terrible and treasonous president but the damage the Bush administration caused the world is much worse. Millions of innocent civilians died because of his war on terror, all founded on a lie.

[–] trashxeos@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Even worse, before that lie, the CIA funded and propped up both regimes in prior years leading up to all of that (see Blowback seasons 1 and 4). The American government's obsession with oil and anti-communism have destabilized so much of the world that it is actively making lives worse for the vast majority of people in the world, in one way or another.

A few years back Will Ferrell resurrected his George Bush impression for Not the White House Correspondents Dinner on TBS.

He strolled on stage, smoking a cigarette, took a drag and said, "How do you like me now?" The whole thing was hilarious.

He's definitely not stupid, he put on an act to seem more relatable, but he was still sharp. Still a war criminal tho

It was a more innocent time.

I know I've spent too much time in Asia when I see nothing wrong with the picture and needed to go to the comments to find out why. I still don't get it.

He waved off his secret service, electing to dodge the shoes. To this day I think he was like "finally I get to do something fun"

15 years ago. Time flies..

[–] Venicon@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

So did the shoe

[–] zkikiz@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How does that feel both shorter and longer than it actually was?

[–] Mighty@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Adulthood gothic

Simpler times.

[–] Jumpinship@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

He was a much nicer war criminal for sure. Likeable guy in a way

[–] Lemmylefty@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

You could definitely give someone a concussion if you hocked a wooden clog at them.

Someone threw a shoe at US president George W. Bush back in the day. That's pretty much it.

[–] _haha_oh_wow_@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

I'm still kinda bummed out he was able to dodge both shoes

[–] Casmael@geddit.social 1 points 1 year ago

This is a nice window into the past
