I've seen a lot of official MST3K (Mystery Science Theater 3000, ya boob) getting streamed on Youtube. I have a lot of these already from quite a while ago, sourced from various places. Some from my own DVD rips (thanks Netflix), downloaded DVD rips, and a small amount of "lost" content coming from VHS rips off broadcast.

Are the Youtube streams worth archiving? I was specifically looking at a livestream for Season 1 that "includes lost host segments". I was going to download it through Newpipe, but I didn't see the option on this stream (granted, I didn't look too deeply).

Are these streams worth the time if I already have the episodes? Have they been cleaned-up in any way?

Hey guys, if youre old enough you propably remember this cartoon with child-like versions of scooby, shaggy etc. I surely do and would love to watch it in the best quality. So far, only rips I found were dvds with mid quality and upscales, which are so blurry and shitty my eyes hurt watching. HOWEVER, i came across 720p rip from tubi which i believe is a remastered version of this show. Sadly, its only second season with 8 episodes out of 27. I also believe the remastered version is available on amazon hbo and vudu, but im not sure if those are really remastered versions. I just want to ask you guys for help with looking for that show in the best quality. I think it should be 1080p after remastering but as I mentiomed I only found one rip of one season in 720 p from tubi (which no longer has this show in their catalouge). I tried every site I know and no luck. I also attach screenshots from dvd and 720p tubi version. The difference is HUGE. thank. you guys in advance for help :) here is a post in which I found 720p rip, its on hdencode https://hdencode.org/a-pup-named-scooby-doo-1988-s02-720p-tubi-web-dl-x264-grave-3-3-gb/

Movies: I like to playback raw video files with a desktop video player. I settle for nothing less. I would gladly pay a few doubloons in exchange for a movie video file download but nobody offers this, (except for GOG that one time with a paltry selection of films).

Games: "Hey we released this new game buuuuut you're going to need to purchase an entire separate computer system we call a 'console' because we refuse to compile the game binary for PC OSes, nor provide the source for you to do so yourself"

I interpret distributors and publishers treating me as a second (or third) class citizen as carte blanche to acquire your content and make the necessary changes to make it work on my environment of choice.

I've been trying to download some images from Shutterstock for a week now and every site on FMHY gives me an error. Is there something happening?

Has anyone actually found the NSP/XCI somewhere?

I've found an update file but the base game doesn't seem to be anywhere I have access to.

I keep seeing in forums and sites like these that say it's frowned upon to not seed torrents that you use/used. I saw a post on here or Reddit (I don't remember) with a guy ecstatic that someone started seeding his download he had been trying to get done for months. I know seeding lets someone download something using your computer but how is it helpful if someone doesn't have a site and/or isn't "in-range" ?

If you can't tell, I don't know much about how torrenting works other than how to download something using one. I hope that you all can just explain or point me in the right direction because I would like to support the community.

I use emulators that play directly from (.iso) or (.img) files, however as you probably know, most ROMs are downloaded as archives.

Do you backup your ROMs in their downloaded archived format? Or as uncompressed files?

Seems they recently changed something on Spotify and all the tools I've tried fail now. And DownOnSpot which seems promising has received a cease and desist letter and got taken down. What do you people use? I want something that actually fetches the audio from Spotify, not just rip it from YouTube. And it has to work as of now. Does the latest commit from DownOnSpot work? Back when I tested it a few weeks ago it failed due to some API changes. Are there other tools floating around?

if you're a long time PC games pirate, I'd like to divert your attention to an area you probably haven't looked at (I know I haven't) - Playstation 3.

you're free to look up its history, but in short, it's tech that premiered in 2006, so def on the old side. nevertheless, it's still in active use with game development reaching into 2017.

the kicker here is - it's almost flawlessly jailbreakable, allowing you to play anything that was produced for it, including games for PS1 and PS2! two caveats: a) I haven't registered nor used a PSN account, as I see no value in it so no idea if network play works and b) I only tried 15 or so games.

they can be had in the $30-50 range, the older models (fat and earlier slim) being preferable because they support the persistent hack, while later slims and superslims are less so, but still hackable with a non-persistent hack (you need to patch it every time it powers on).

the hack is super easy and straightforward and involves no hardware mods of any kind - it wouldn't hurt to clean and repaste a 20 year old device, though. the new hack with the custom firmware (CFW) is persistent, so it's there forever unless you decide to flash the original firmware (OFW).

because it's such an old platform there isn't super active resistance from sony towards the hack scene, so you should be good on that front for many, many moons. in contrast, the rare PS4 hacks are quickly patched and rendered useless, even though it's pretty ancient tech from 2012.

I stumbled onto one by chance, found a broken device sans Blu-Ray drive, seemingly useless for normies. thanks to the super-active community at psx-place, I was able to resurrect it, flash the latest 4.91 CFW with a noBD patch, got me a fake sixaxis game pad and an old 500 GB drive and everything works beautifully!

you can get games from dedicated "ROM" sites as well as torrents; I'm not overly familiar with the malware situation but I doubt it's a serious concern. the games can be transferred over the network using plain ol' FTP, copied from USB drives or even played directly from those. although it was the primary method of game distribution, I haven't needed the BD once. there are mods with store-like interfaces that allow you to directly download games from the internet and install them to the disk. also, DLNA is supported, I managed to play movies from my Jellyfin server!

although it won't hurt it, SSD are probably overkill. the SATA1 interface it has is congruent with transfer speeds of mechanical drives, so you're fine with repurposing one of those, as they can be had for next to nothing; max size is 1.5TB.

I've gotten a cheap sixaxis clone; cost me $10 NiB and it works. I don't know if I suck at playing dynamic games because it's shit or because I plain suck (never played with a gamepad before), that remains to be seen. I'm def not buying an original because they cost like $50+, and I'm not getting them used because yuck - who knows who sweated on them and what else they did with it.

a word of warning - you shouldn't spend a ton of money on them because it's decade+ old tech that's on the uptick part of a bathtub curve. the graphics chips they had, especially the early models, are prone to die and repair isn't viable.

it took me a while to piece together all the info as I've never had any interactions with consoles of any kind, let alone the hack aspects of it. if you're similarly challenged, ask away here or on ps3piracy and I'll try to help!

I want to be able to download and/or access the resource The International Encyclopedia of Media Literacy https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/book/10.1002/9781118978238.

I can't seem to find a pdf version anywhere and was hoping to read it via an 'institution' that provides access.

Is it possible to access a university library that provides access (so to speak) to books otherwise only available via subscription?

Alternatively, does anyone know where hard to find books like these might be available?

thanks

Hi,

Does anyone know of any service that independently hosts podcasts exclusive to Spotify, Audible etc.?

Thanks.
