So I finally bit the bullet, installed a second SSD and put Linux on it to test the waters. Tested out GW2 as a non steam game via Wine and while it runs, it runs very poorly with constant frame drops. Did anyone else try? How was your experience?

I have Nvidia GPU which I gather might be the most likely culprit but was interested in what your experience might've been.

Hey Folks, I just want to know what your thoughts are about the new spear skills, which Anet streamed on friday.

I have mixed feelings about the skills and desinges they showed. To be fair some classes are getting unique effects and a new type of gameplay but I think some skills seem to be overtuned in terms of competitve gameplay not to mention the graphic effects some skills have. I´m curious what the beta-event might feel like. Maybe the new skills will be balanced or getting balanced later on (most likely after the beta). For me as an Ele-Main I like the skills I got but I can understand the discomfort for people playing their class not getting the skills or playstyles they wanted.

What do you think about the new skills? Do you like their desing and gameplay? And are you satisfied with the skills your mainclass will get?

Seems like too much work to me, so I started getting duplicate pieces just to save the hassle, but a few guildies said I was crazy.

The first time I saw the original trailer for Guild Wars 2, I knew I had to play the game, but I also knew that I had to get the soundtrack as well. One of the best things about the original GW2 is its soundtrack and Jeremy Soule overdid himself, once again.

It wasn't easy getting my hands on the soundtrack though. Back then, all the music composed by Jeremy Soule was sold by DirectSong, which had some uhm issues :D

It took them about 1 year to ship me the soundtrack, but before that I even managed to email Jeremy Soule himself, "complaining" about not getting the soundtrack I ordered. I didn't expect a reply at all, but he actually did reply. He basically just said that DirectSong had issues with producing the soundtracks, but I just had to be patient. Turns out he was right. I just had to be patient 😅

I remember there being accusations of DirectSong being scammers, with people not realizing that Jeremy Soule himself founded Directsong 😂

I thought I'd try GW2 after years of not playing (last I played was PoE era, bounced off fully before Icebrood saga) and finally managed to get into it!

I used to live and breath this game and while I was not what you'd call "hardcore" player, I knew about everything going on. Now I'm totally in the black which is weird. I try not to get it to me, I just play through the Icebrood saga story now and try my best not to open inventory and achievement tabs etc to not get discouraged. GW2 was always a bit convoluted, but with so much added in the meantime, it's much.

How do you deal with this? What would be your recommendations for me to "ease into it"? What should I engage after getting my groove back in the story? How to dip my toes slowly into buildcrafting? What new systems should I check out?

Bonus question: would you expect the xpacs to go on sale anytime soon? Next one should be around the corner by now, no?
