imo that's a stupid sentence that doesn't say much. It supposedly means something like "there are certain circumstances that I/you/we would like to change, but there's nothing any of us can do about it", and I agree that there is a ton of things that are outside our control, but I do NOT like the sentiment this sentence oh-so-often transmits that we are all incapable of doing anything when things become rough.

The path we take in life will never correspond to the one we dreamt of, and it will stray away from it, as it already has many times, in ways we cannot yet imagine. However, that is not (and will never be) a good reason to give up. Because it's in the face of adversity that we shine the brightest. And if you want to dazzle, OP, it's now more than ever that you must fight your struggles with all your strength. Bring it on!

wow, I really didn't expect such a thought out response. I really do appreciate it. for me the sentence conveys the idea that despite all the effort put in, some undesirable circumstances have already occurred, and no further action can change them. but in the general usage, I absolutely agree that it is a stupid sentiment, suggesting that one should stop trying despite there being things that can be done. sometimes it's hard to keep hope in the world with how it is, but damn it, it's worth holding on to that hope if you can, and if it means you can at least try to make a difference in the world. anyway hopefully any of what I wrote makes sense lol

What you wrote made total sense, at least for me. I'm glad you liked the comment I wrote. I know that what you posted was a meme, but I felt like sharing my POV could help someone out there who's having doubts of their own capabilities.
