Happy Birthday! Ok, it might not be a birthday in the strictest sense, but it has officially been one year since I made the first general discussion thread in !anime@ani.social and was appointed as a moderator. Can you believe it? I don't really have anything special to say about it other than to thank everybody here for being great members of the community. Thank you for this first year and I look forward to another year with all you goofballs. Also, special thanks to hitagi for creating the space for this community to exist (and handling a big chunk of reports before I even see them).

Just in case it wasn't clear, you can absolutely use this thread the same way you would use any other general discussion thread. Let us know about things you have watched, ask about things you want to watch, show off some merch you just got, whatever. Go wild! (within the rules)

As always, remember to be mindful of spoilers. If you want to know more about how to handle spoilers in this community, check the guide here (also linked in the sidebar).

Thanks for the effort you and the other mods put in. It's appreciated. It's a small, but overall nice community. I don't really miss the Reddit alternative. The small size also made me more active in the comments and posts (if only a little) than I was on Reddit. It feels less like you're posting into a void, especially if you're a day or two later in the discussion posts.

Yes! I have a bit of a confession to make. I added the functionality to rikka to create the pinned post where she lists all the recent episode discussion threads because I am often a couple days late watching an episode, and I was having trouble finding old threads. So, I made it purely to help me go back into threads from a couple days ago to make a comment. I figured, if I was having trouble with it, other people probably were too.

Yeah, it's helpful, although I sometimes forget it exists

Yeah, unfortunately it is also only really convenient if you are on the ani.social instance. My most wished-for feature in lemmy is some way to link to posts/comments in an instance-agnostic way. Alas...

Oh, I don't have an issue with the links in the post even though I'm not on ani.social. The app just goes to the disc post I selected. I don't really use it in the browser
