I really shouldn't be astonished, but I am 😵.

This is, of course, utter abuse of user data, but what's even worse is that Google allows this.

#Conversations was taken off Google Play, and forced to remove its contacts linking feature for #privacy reasons, despite the fact that no contact data was ever uploaded to any servers, yet #Citymapper is allowed to share highly sensitive precise location data with third parties for the sake of #profit?!

🤬 Goodbye Citymapper!!

Thankfully we're not exactly short of #opensource alternatives: I love how #Öffi displays the timetables, but we also have #Transportr and KDE's #KTrip (which not only works on Android but also on #mobilelinux).

@aerion @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social The main downside of ktrip is that it doesn't mention the country of the cities in the search results, it's particulary annoying for cities that share the same name but are from different countries.

@stemy @aerion @kde @kde@lemmy.kde.social That's going to be fixed in 25.08, as long as the data is available the location search will show country, region and city below the station name.

@VolkerKrause
Like KDE Itinerary (one of my favourite KDE apps, together with KDE Connect), KTrip keeps getting better with every release.

Even though I've got both KTrip and Transportr installed, my go to travel planner has been Öffi for quite some time, because of its fabulous timetable display. I need to break my habits and make KTrip my sole app for a while.
