I was on Kogan mobile because they are so cheap and offer lots of data but I can't reply to short number txt messages from the dentist or the pharmacy or whatnot and some people overseas were not able to send me text messages.
Before I switched over I was trying to debug the issue and spent a week going back and forth with Kogan which was very frustrating especially since after a week they basically said "that's the way it is and there is nothing we can do about it".
I decided to switch to skinny because they are on the spark network (kogan is on one) but had all kinds of problems because I used to have a skinny sim years ago and set up an account there but when I logged in I was unable to associate my new sim with my account or port my number over. I spent a couple of days on the phone with support going back and forth until they decided that the best thing to do was to delete my account and have me register all over again.
I did that and associated the new sim with the account and filled out the form to transfer my number over. They said it would be done 8:00 AM the next day and sure enough the next morning my kogan sim was not working anymore. I plugged in the skinny sim and everything seemed to be OK until I decided to make a call. I got a message saying "something is wrong with your account" but the call went through anyway. I found out that the number had not been ported over yet despite the fact that my old sim doesn't work anymore.
I called back a few times and spent a lot of time on tech support until they escalated the ticket and told me it would take up to 48 hours to port my number.
Basically for the last few days nobody has been able to call me because if they dial the number they get a fast busy. The really insane thing is that they can text me at my number.
TLDR: Customer service at both Kogan and Skinny sucks. I can't believe they messed up such a simple process. Both companies have wasted their money hiring web developers because both web sites suck.
