I decided to try doing these in contrast. Necromunda isn’t my main game, so I don’t want to spend ages on each mini.

I finished this guy the night before an event this weekend and took the opportunity to snap a pic of him on one of the really cool tables they had set up.

I have been prepping the Void minis. There are 30 Junker conscripts and 20 Viridian soldiers.

I discovered immediately that the plastic is incredibly soft which means that even with sharp clippers I am leaving gouges.

The Junkers have leg panels that are where the metal versions of the minis have weapon holsters but it appears those were simply sloppily deleted, leaving ugly flat spots.

I confirmed there are no bits meant to go there and the spots appear on the official plastic minis. I went through and scraped those spots off. I'll be going back and adding greenstuff to fix the scraping, and then add pouches and grenades to the thigh straps.

I scraped and cleaned other pieces and began gluing them together. The Junker backpacks have a visible cavity which I am filling with greenstuff-miliput. So far I've cleaned and drilled 15 shotguns and armed half the Junkers with them, the other half are in the process of getting knives.

I cleaned all the Junker shields and blue tacked them to painting sticks. Those will be painted separately and only added at the end. The box didn't come with any decals so I ordered some from online, which I actually prefer to the design the box would have provided.

There are supposed to be two Junker sergeants but with no special bits to set them apart I looked through my spares and found two unused helmet plumes.

The Viridians are all going to be armed with rifles. Similarly there are two sergeants so I am looking for heads and bits to set them apart from the normal troops. I have plenty of 40k heads but am trying to avoid using them as I at least find those heads all instantly recognizable. I've test fitted a few options.

All the minis will get a light application of texture paste on the bases. They will have simple retro flock on top of this, but the texture base foundation is to ensure the shape of the base slots is disguised.

I'll continue to assemble these minis while making progress to fill gaps and clean any mold lien flaws I find.

Void 1.1 is a game that has passed through a few hands trying to revive it, but is more or less dead. I was always fascinated by it though because in the early 2000s I thought it had some minis better than the Warhammer 40k counterparts at the time. I was browsing eBay and found and original 2003 box set for pretty cheap and snapped it up. The rulebook is missing but that's alright since I already own a copy I got cheap from NobleKnight.

The back of the box shows off the content. Aside from the rulebook, everything else is there.

Super rare original Void plastic minis, still on the sprues.

Flame and blast templates.

The starter painting book is brief but gives a decent overview. Being from the early 2000s it gives tips like using regular thinned paints as washes and underpainting red with yellow. Good tips, but not what you normally see in official guides these days.

A few alternate color scheme ideas are provided. I'm definitely torn on how I want to paint these guys up. Time to ponder until I hopefully paint them next month.
