It’s kinda crazy how fast he’s unraveling into the right-wing griftersphere. Does Thiel or Putin have something on him?

No, shit for brains, giving up your job is an actual commitment. Virtue signaling is a token gesture that costs you nothing - like throwing a million dollars at an inauguration party when you're worth billions.

[–] vga@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Well firstly, virtue signaling is not fundamentally a bad thing. Devil is in the details.

Second, that's kinda rich coming from the guy who's been nothing but virtue signaling towards the upcoming Trump admin since his failed assassination attempt.

Get fuck't, Zuck. I'm attempting to convince my entire family to go to Friendica.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

I will mention the platform and hopefully plant a seed!

[–] ToastySaff@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

“Some people may leave our platforms for virtue signaling, but I think the vast majority and many new users will find that these changes make the products better”

So he's stripping away protections for marginalised groups to appeal to the "vast majority" who, by definition, don't need these protections and are in no way negatively impacted by their existence. Got it, and fuck you very much.

[–] penguinclaw@lemm.ee 1 points 18 hours ago

Okay, so what's wrong with that, dipshit? The populace fucking hates your stupid policies because it harms, and sticking in solidarity with those it harms is VIRTUE SIGNALING? That's a bad thing?

Go poorly surf and fight MMA you dumb, dickhead. People hate you and you deserve it.

You Virtue Signal

I Virtue Signal

We Are Not The Same

Maybe saying you’re quitting meta is “virtue signalling” but actually quitting is virtuous.

[–] normalexit@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago

virtue - behavior showing high moral standards.

Wouldn't want to signal that.

[–] unmagical@lemmy.ml 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I virtue signaled over a decade ago.

[–] stealth_cookies@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

If treating people with respect and standing up for the greater good of an inclusive society that doesn't villainize people who aren't harming others is virtue signalling then I wear the title proudly.

[–] veeesix@lemmy.ca 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Geeze this guy gets a hobby and buys new clothes, and suddenly it’s hardcore this, hardcore that.

[–] DrSleepless@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

And everybody knows he stole Facebook from Spider-Man

[–] DigitalNirvana@lemm.ee 22 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I’ve been virtue signaling for years now. I can’ wait till Meta corp is a tiny greasy stain in the historical record. I’m had two dear friends ask me about the fediverse since Sunday.

[–] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

This is exactly the kind of thing a loser would say. Loser CEOs are always whining about people leaving their platform. Winners keep their head down and build something their users actually enjoy using.

[–] tate@lemmy.sdf.org 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah! Let's go!! Signal to me baby!

I was and I did. What of it, Markie you salty bitch.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 day ago

Zuckerberg is about make people want to quit even more now.

[–] Vanth@reddthat.com 7 points 1 day ago

Boycott - to abstain from or act together in abstaining from using, buying, dealing with, or participating in as an expression of protest or disfavor or as a means of coercion.

Why, yes. I think he's right. Dadgum, he's just so smart.

So he's saying people wouldn't sacrifice much if they were to leave Meta-backed services?

[–] stormio@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

What if I never used Meta in the first place? What does that make me? Am I a virtue signaller too?

[–] Bogasse@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 day ago

I wanted to leave a while ago but their shitty development practices got me locked out of my account due to a bug before I could.

[–] ElcaineVolta@kbin.melroy.org 11 points 1 day ago

this headline gave me a much needed chuckle, what a world.

[–] don@lemm.ee 10 points 1 day ago

There were plenty of reasons for my deleting fb over a decade ago, and this horsefuckery is just one more fuckery to add to the list of fb fuckeries (damn, they are many!).

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I just left because the platform is full of spam, narcissists and crazy family members that I don’t need in my life. It’s not fun anymore. Hasn’t been for a decade.

[–] SlopppyEngineer@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

I just wanted simple updates from the people i follow in a chronological order. But no, it had to be by the algorithm, all in seemingly random order, and the feed full of slop I didn't ask for being force fed like I'm a turkey being prepared for the holidays, That's why I left.

[–] Throskie@midwest.social 1 points 23 hours ago

Lotta reasons and responses here i plan on using for when i finally make my "fuck you all i quit" post this weekend.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 5 points 1 day ago

Aw, is little baby Zuck upset that he's going to lose money somehow?

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I have no idea what that means, but okay. I quit about a decade ago and have since tried a couple times to "get back into it" so I could keep up better with family/friends, but was unable to muster the desire after a day or 2 and would end up forgetting. Doesn't really feel like I'm missing much overall.

Mark Zuckerberg’s opinions on ethics and morality are very important to me.

(I won a bet with myself. I managed to type that whole sentence without bursting into laughter.)
