Spoiler!Anyone else think the "words after golden" one was bs? Goldenrod and goldendoodle are one word, and the other two I'd just never heard of.

SpoilersFunny, the two you've heard of are the two I hadn't heard of. Goldendoodle vaguely rings a bell, but goldenrod was a complete mystery to me. Golden goose is a reasonably common English expression, referencing one of Aesop's fables (or possibly an unrelated fairy tale, though I personally am not familiar with that fairy tale).

Golden parachute is an expression for a payout a high level executive gets if they get fired, especially as part of a merger or acquisition.

Holy shit today's was hard. And they reckon only 3/5? I entered yellow, thinking it would probably be the blue one based on the relative obscurity of it, after I had spent hours on and off trying to solve the puzzle and not being able to find anything else. I've only heard of two of the entries in green before, and would never have figured it out if not for discussing the puzzle with my mum. Same for blue, in all likelihood.

A failure from the bot today, but not entirely the bot's fault. Lemmy.Zip's pictrs seems to be completely borked.

Question to the regulars: would you rather, in this instance, the bot simply give up and wait until I can come along and do it manually, or post it sans image?

I don't really look at the image, so maybe try to post it with the image and if that doesn't work just post the link.

[–] lemonmelon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I personally use the image to pre-solve the puzzle, so my vote is for the image. On top of that, I have a certain appreciation for manual posts over bot posts.

[–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

In terms of pre-solving the puzzle, I highly recommend Connections Copilot (no connection to Microsoft Copilot...it isn't even AI in any way). It gives you cards that you can rearrange to help you mentally map out the puzzle.

I vote for posting sans image. I personally never really look at it and the post only serves to remind me to play (and to complain in the comments 🀣)
