A Finnish photographer calls out the lies, greedflation and total disrespect from Adobe.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4u9HOf93WSI

In 2009, the CEO of Adobe was paid $5 million dollars :

https://www.sfgate.com/business/article/adobe-ceo-pay-in-fiscal-09-totals-5-2-million-3195831.php

Today - 15 years later - the CEO of Adobe is paid $55 million dollars :

And itโ€™s the SAME guy !! ๐Ÿ™ƒ.

For him, this is all a game. "Stupid peasants don't protest. They are dumb cows to milk. The board members are my friends. How high can my score go ? 70? 80 million?"

The price hike is what got you? Not the terms and conditions that they own rights to everything you create (even if you are creating for clients/work). What the fuck adobe

Congratulations. ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜€
I find it bizarre that competition is so bad that there is only one "standard" app for the graphics work Adobe is used for by professionals.

Why is the market letting this happen? Why are professionals allowing themselves to become 100% dependent on 1 proprietary solution? It's like allowing yourself to become a hostage to the companies that supply your tools.

The market didnโ€™t let this happen. Years of bad anti-monopoly practices have seen companies like Adobe buy out their competition.

As a result the amount of money it would take to simultaneously catch up to Adobeโ€™s decades of development and compete with them at scale even with just one of their products is far outside what a lot of people are willing to invest.

The same is true for a lot of โ€œbig techโ€ right now. Imagine you wanted to start your own music streaming serviceโ€ฆ

Your post did the trick, it's now on sale.

I'm not sure I care what price Adobe is at, they're a terrible company. I never trusted them. I probably wouldn't use them for free. Well, maybe the animation and 3d software for free, but I'm happy with the other alternatives.

They've been this way for years. I'm happy he's moving away but to act surprised is really disingenuous.

Is there An article from the photographer or something?

What alternatives are there? I know there's GIMP, but are there any other options?

I'm trying to wean my wife away from these parasitic subscriptions, but she is a graphic design and insists photoshop is the only thing that she can work on

[โ€“] ThoGot@lemm.ee 1 points 5 hours ago

also there's Photopea

[โ€“] ghost_towels@sh.itjust.works 6 points 10 hours ago

Affinity!! Iโ€™m trying to get my work to switch over. We only use InDesign, Illustrator, and acrobat so could be an easy switch, but itโ€™s the acrobat part thatโ€™s the hard one.

Deny the parasite engagement and profit.

Team peasants gonna have to start cutting these parasites out one by one!

Price insensitive behaviour has emboldened these clowns and now everything is a essentially a fleecing of the wage slave.
