Unless the mole just doesn't have hair on its face or ass or somewhere, then it's possible to comb all hairs flat.

Unless the mole just doesn't have hair on its face or ass or somewhere, then it's possible to comb all hairs flat.

That is the case, it has bald patches around its mouth and, uh, hands. I don't want to look up pictures of mole ass, but I can’t imagine the anus itself is hairy, that would be a biohazard trap in the environment moles live in.

[–] four@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Well, I'm glad I don't live in the environment the moles live in then...

I did not need to know that, but I respect the witty way you communicated it

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 2 days ago

I knew someone would beat me to it.

[–] kibiz0r@midwest.social 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Well, a mole is basically a donut. Sooo…

[–] Tja@programming.dev 1 points 1 day ago

Claims like that and the actions following from them is why I'm currently in litigation with the Dunkin' franchise of Tightsqueeze, Virginia.

It doesn't help that they also insist that "mole blood is basically coffee"..

Just chilling here while stroking my mole.

There is a similar rule applying to haha well. lets justr say.

[–] Rose_Thorne@lemmy.zip 28 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Who up strokin' their mole?

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 14 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

This rubs me the wrong way.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 2 days ago

Now we know you're not a mole

[–] Zerush@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 days ago

On a wild Tiger you can do it, but only one time.

[–] Eheran@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Unless it is either perfectly perpendicular to the skin or is already somehow laying in all directions: There can only be one direction. Given a mole moves in tight spaces backwards and forward, both would make sense.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

Maybe their fur is like a sequin sweater

[–] ThisIsAManWhoKnowsHowToGling@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No really, this is a real quality mole fur has

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 17 points 2 days ago (5 children)

This is a mathematical problem with no solution, there has to be a cowlick on a sphere. Perhaps the mole avoids this problem by not being a sphere, where there is a possible solution

[–] DrBob@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 days ago

It's very short and perpendicular to the skin. It feels like velvet.

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

But it’s not completely covered in fur. A partially hairy sphere doesn’t need a cowlick.

[–] ThisIsAManWhoKnowsHowToGling@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I dont remember learning about moles in math. Chemistry, yes, but I don't think moles care much about topology.

However, if we assume an ideal mole in empty space with no air resistance, we would see how they have this property: their hair follicles would, in the absence of outside interference, stand straight up. So, its technically more accurate to say that every direction of petting a mole is equally wrong.

Someone else covered it in another reply, but moles have bald areas. Hairy Ball only applies when it's entirely covered.

Edit: other comment

[–] Sludgeyy@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Cowlick doesn't go against what the post is saying

Their hair can lay in any direction at anytime

It's not saying that you can make their hair all perfect in any direction.

[–] muntedcrocodile@hilariouschaos.com 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

A topological sphere so unless moles are actually a torus then it's still not possible.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Good news, vertebrates are tori

[–] PaintedSnail@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Unless they wear a whig.

[–] skrlet13@feddit.cl 8 points 2 days ago

We can make moles happy petting them, there is not wrong way... How wholesome...

[–] kubica@fedia.io 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think the mole is trying to trick you to try it.

[–] corvidenjoyer@hexbear.net 1 points 2 days ago

But its so tempting...

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The same is true about sharks.

[–] wewbull@feddit.uk 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Quite the opposite:

  1. Sharks don't have fur
  2. Shark skin is rough is one direction and smooth in the other. This allows them to get friction with the water to drive themselves forward, but the glide through the water for efficient travel.

The idea was copied into competitive swim suits.

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nah, you're wrong. Sharks are silky smooth in all directions.

[–] wewbull@feddit.uk 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

https://www.smithsonianmag.com/innovation/shark-skin-inspired-materials-have-a-long-way-to-go-before-they-work-like-the-real-thing-180980973/

Few people have gotten close enough to a shark to pet it. If you could run your hand from a shark’s head to its tail—not that you should—it would feel smooth, almost like suede. Reverse direction and it’s rough like sandpaper. Viewed under a microscope, shark skin is composed of ribbed, dragonesque scales layered over each other like shingles on a roof. These structures, called dermal denticles, are more like teeth than skin

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The link you posted says sharks are smooth as the finest silk in every direction.

[–] JacksonLamb@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

You sound like you are trying to trick people into getting their skin rasped off by sharks.
