Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

A raid in Montebello, Calif., has stirred fears that federal agents are detaining and racially profiling U.S. citizens of Hispanic descent.

And Vicente.

“I know enough to know this is not right at all,” Mr. Gavidia said in an interview. “Latinos in general are getting attacked. We’re all getting attacked.”

Yeah, part of the plan. There was absolutely no way Trump could deport as many people as he said he was going to in his campaign, unless he was going to deport legal immigrants too.

AMERICAN CITIZENS are being attacked, by their own government.

Doesn’t matter what color their skin is, this is an enemy invasion by domestic terrorists. Anyone who’s sworn an oath to the Constitution should be infuriated and ready to remedy this by meeting fire with fire.

This is nothing new. Here in Southern California in the 1930s, there were county sheriffs who would routinely round up any Latinos they found, and dump them in Mexico. Many US citizens could never get back, and just lived out their lives in a strange country, their families often never knew what happened.

We are there again. And with no more birthright citizenship? How can any of us prove we're citizens? I'm as white as they're making them, and even I feel vulnerable.

Imagine someone being so racist they think you’re too Hispanic to live in Los Angeles.

[–] Deello@lemm.ee 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Los Angeles. A city so Hispanic it's not even spelled in English.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 11 points 20 hours ago

A city so Hispanic it was, until somewhat recently, Mexico.

Imagine someone being so racist they think you’re too Hispanic to live in the United States.

Los Estados Unidos.

Los Angeles, or in English, The Angeles

[–] Floodedwomb@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

I know this is a reference to something. I cannot, for the life of me, remember what.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Or, in English, The The Angels Angels of Anaheim.

I’m white but I lived in Downey for several years and even worked in Montebello for a while. Reading these articles makes my blood boil.

Even though I moved here from Iowa I’m not sure what it is about the rest of this country that doesn’t understand that in Los Angeles, no one gives a fuck whether you’re here legally or not.

I know it won’t happen, but what this always makes me wonder is why we don’t leave the US. The rest of the country wants to shit on us constantly while we pay their taxes? Gtfoh

No, as a native American, i can confirm you all suck and should leave.

Edit for clarification: I mean all settlers and their descendants. If you aren't first nation, you're in the wrong nation.

[–] kn33@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago

You... You want to set some more realistic goals? Estimates put the Native American population at around 10m or around 3% of the US population. Relocating 290m people isn't going to happen.

Reminds me of the "don't tase me, bro" guy.
