Parent company of the ship had other ships which delivered to Israeli ports. Sad that they used human shields for their complicity in genocide.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world -1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Wait so the targeted ship wasn't even going to Israel? Wasn't that the whole point of the blockade, not just attacking anyone vaguely related to Israel?

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 5 points 6 days ago

Ships related to Israel. The parent company very directly violated the blockade so they have become a target.

[–] hoch@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago (2 children)

The number of people in this thread defending this shitstain terrorist organization is unreal.

You do realize you can be anti-Israel without supporting literal terrorists?

[–] SectoidLexi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 5 days ago

That's a good idea, let's oppose Israel but also oppose all the forces that are actually fighting it because they are scary Muslims who use violence which is a no-no. We should instead write a stern letter that genocide is bad but we will not do anything effective to stop it. That should work!

[–] EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com -3 points 6 days ago

Can we all just agree that attacking and killing civilians is bad, regardless of who is doing it? I wouldn't expect that to be too much.

Tbh, killing military personnel isn't exactly "good" either if the destroying equipment, vehicles, and structures is enough to achieve military objectives.

I was told that the massive and exorbitantly expensive air strikes solved this problem.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

after a decade of the US helping Saudis turn Yemen into a parking lot, they can strike Israel and control the red sea.

makes me wonder what they fuck where they bombing that Yemen can still fight?

[–] Saleh@feddit.org 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Civilian infrastructure, specifically farms, to facilitate genocide by hunger, weddings, schools, hospitals, ports...

i wonder if US foreign policy is doing this with the explicit intent to promote anti American terrorist groups, to ensure there's always a target to promote the military industrial complex.

not sure if it's a conspiracy, because they are already doing it, and that is the outcome, the only tin foil hat part is their intent

[–] hoch@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Well they're clearly asking for some more

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Sea_crisis

The Houthis say that any Israel-linked ship is a target,[90][87][88] including US and UK warships, but they have also attacked the ships of many nations with no connection to Israel.[91][92] From October 2023 to March 2024, the Houthis attacked more than 60 vessels in the Red Sea.

edit: the fact that people are snarling at actual, neutral reporting of factual events should be the clue-in that you're all literally doing the exact same thing we despise from the right, letting feelings cloud our judgement about who our real allies are or are not. Use your fucking heads you hysterical children.

I am fully convinced that most of you are reflexively reacting because your favorite political streamer said something good about Houthis at some point and you're not even sure why or what the nuance is.

[–] rumimevlevi@lemmings.world 7 points 6 days ago

They didn't attack before 7 of october and didn't attack during the ceasefire. End the genocide

Wait, the Signal chat told me that this was solved for evar...

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 19 points 1 week ago (6 children)

Man, just imagine doing your job, living at the other side of the world, spending months on sea to bring back some money for your family, and then some cunts just kill you because of a conflict you might not even know exists

[–] SectoidLexi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 6 days ago

"A conflict you might not even know exists" see that's just bullshit. Not only is Israel's genocide reported heavily across the globe, if you run a shipping company, it is your responsibility to at least be somewhat aware of the regional conflicts in the area you transport goods to and from. Also, if there's a military blockade threatening all vessels who enter a port, it is also your responsibility to not put your employees in danger by trying to bypass that blockade with no assurances of safety. I would hold the owners of this vessel/company accountable for prioritizing profit and getting these people killed.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world -5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I would be nice if people broadly opposed bombing ANYONE but even here, a site that appeals largely to self-proclaimed leftists and progressives like this is just oozing with as much bloodlust as you would see from the worst people we condemn.

This bloodlust for the deaths of others is why we have a genocide raging to begin with. Why can't we all be better and be consistent.

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 4 points 6 days ago

Lol don't bother. Each time I say something similar (ie. everyone should calm the f down), I get downvoted into oblivion. What's even more ironic is that I got downvoted for saying we don't need another genocide.

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (7 children)

Man, imagine watching a live steamed genocide for two years and when a few people get hurt because they're working on a ship that supports the genocide, that's when you feel empathy.

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub -2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

What a weird comment

EDIT: About his assumption that I don't feel empathy towards people. Out of the blue and random

You can't transit the area and not know. I'm pretty sure theres been a maritime advisement for like a decade generally and for Liberia there's been a specific warning provided to relevant shipping companies and captains. It would be like sailing the coast of Somalia and saying you didn't know theres a pirate issue.

Our dumb, violent, primate species fucking deserves the apocalypse we're crafting in laboratories as we speak.
