Argentina-size must be the stupidest measure ever invented. No one even known how really huge Argentina is because the visual map everyone has on their mind is the Mercator projection. Americans would use anything before metric.

That's about 5.1 France's for our European metric friends.

In the UK everything always seems to be measured in Essexs.

Isnt "one Texas" one of the standard nonsense units used in the United states? Why aren't they using that? Or can they only use it when it's 1, 2, 5 or 12 texases and otherwise it's Argentina's?

Well that's terrifying, 1 Argentina is 4 Texases

[–] Lodespawn@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

I seem to remember that the asteroid broke up over Russia and was captured on film a while ago was the size of half a giraffe. Or 0.000001 Texas, Texas's, Texai?

[–] Lodespawn@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Do we just switch to Texans at that scale? So like 6 Texans?

Why is the headline written like that?

"Scientists are scrambling to figure out why", we know why it's missing, it's not a mystery.

I wonder if that's the same piece as the Western Australia-sized piece reported missing here in Oz :)

Is that the ice chunk that they took to combat climate change in the Simpsons?

[–] Saganastic@kbin.social 7 points 2 years ago

I thought that happened in futurama

[–] Kwakigra@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

My first thought was that Argentina took the piece of Antarctica they claimed.
