someone needs to make Reddit WAS fun

I was really hoping the creator would after linking to Lemmy in the RIF app on the last day. But he made an app for Tildes instead. :(
Rif was closed source I believe?
This is awesome. My favorite Reddit client was Infinity. Pretty happy to see it being usable for Lemmy!
Second after Relay, but it was pretty close. This is awesome news though as I could not find anything for Lemmy. Hopefully soon on F-Droid & in the future with kbin support as well.
We'll just have to take your word for it without a link
Ah, sorry. Here you go
It's still in beta but it's fucking amazing. Brings me so much joy to see Infinity live on. I'm using the same theme and settings I did when I use Reddit and it's almost as if I've never left. Just on a better platform now without shitty policies.
Gotta love FOSS for stuff (forks) like this.
PSA: if you install Obtanium, it'll works as an updater for any git repo release apps like this. Just link the source code page and enable "enable prerelease" and it'll download the APK, and it'll check it periodically to run seamless updates. Also Obtainium will update itself from grabbing its own releases from it's git repo page.
This may be a dumb question but where do i click ro download the apk?
Hit the releases tab and you'll see a zip and apk download below the most recent release
Thank you very much

no worries👍
I swear it wasn’t me. Unless it’s really good. If it’s beloved, then it definitely was me.
Yup, I've been testing it for a while now. Dude chose codeberg out all of these sites. Could've gone to gitlab, but nope, codeberg it is. I don't want to create yet a new account with another site. Lol So, I've just linked it through obtainium and I've been getting all the alpha releases. Coming along nicely
Codeberg is at least non-profit. Gitlab.com is for profit and has (or will have) the same problems as GitHub.
I see. Well then codeberg here I come
There's a pretty big movement away from github, especially recently. Renewed (rightful) distrust of Microsoft is the big reason.
Totally understandable, but not go to gitlab? I mean, codeberg doesn't look bad either.
It's pretty decent too!
Some on the old functionality isn't there yet, like tabbed browsing of subs/communities. And it lacks some core lemmy stuff like blocking. It does, however, cover everything you need for basic scrolling and enjoying. Infinity was never my top reddit app, but it was still great. I think, if development of this version keeps up pace, it's going to become very popular.
Posting from infinity, the screenshot got me confused though.
I've been eagerly been waiting for sync but this just made my day. Infinity was my favorite app and I could customize it perfectly to my liking.
If you still have Infinity for Reddit installed, you can export a backup file of your settings and then import it into Infinity for Lemmy!
