It's seems a translation from https://ici.radio-canada.ca/nouvelle/2001757/terrain-vegetation-reglement-municipal-negociation

There was a debate on the radio in Montreal (https://www.985fm.ca/audio/571991/est-ce-que-vous-refusez-de-couper-votre-gazon-malgre-toute-la-pression-sociale), and it seems that more and more people are receptive to a more ecological alternative to the typical lawn.

Where I live the town has a rule against tall grass because it attracts rodents. Between that and the fact that their grass overflows onto the public walkway a warning to cut it makes sense.

People love to see exotic animals, but hate the biodiversity required for such animals to exist.

Rodents attract foxes, coyotes, snakes, and birds of prey. All of which are parts of a healthy ecosystem. Additionally, some rodents are beneficial to the local environment.

I think ticks are the biggest worry, but I'm my eyes, they're just mosquitos that can't fly.

Some types of grasses can be deadly to animals such as dogs. I’m looking you foxtails. I’m all about replacing lawns where it makes sense, but often neglect leads to burdening others.
