Heh. Kane might actually win something now. Good on him.

I have to think he'll go as I can't believe Bayern haven't sounded him out seeing as they've made a determined chase for him with numerous bids.

Remember when Frankie De Jong was chased by United and United even agreed a fee with Barcelona? I remember.

[–] leraje@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah but choosing to stay at Barca and choosing to stay at Spurs are very different things.

Also United's record in the transfer market since Fergie left is abysmal. Pretty much just one saga after another of lengthy negotiations ending with either the player getting snatched by another club or United overpaying the original asking price.

Whereas Bayern operate with characteristic German efficiency in their transfer dealings.

I saw another tweet that personal terms were agreed, not sure if that's new or if they may have been from previous talks.

Gonna be even more exciting to watch Bayern in the CL now, hope they can win it again to stave off another oil classico.

We (Arsenal) are going to draw Bayern in the round of 16 and the nonce will score to send us out and I will cry.

[–] SatouKazuma@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

This is the way. What are the odds that we've drawn you guys as many times as we have? I'd love to know. It can't be short.

Last year I went from "I just hope it's not the same 6 teams" to "I hope it's not literally oil teams and nobody else". At this point, sure, whatever, even Bayern is an underdog. I think last year vs. City was the first time in my life I rooted for RM and I'm an old man with a grey beard.

End of an era - I can't see Kane not going now. Hard to swallow, he's phenomenal player and will leave a big hole to fill in the team. The big reset is truly on now - new coach, completely different tactics. If Spurs have to adapt after losing their talisman, now is the best time I guess.

I'm just hoping there is a plan in place and we have that $$$ ready to spend in the next few days

Tottenham should've already brought in the replacement. He was either going this year or next no matter what.

[–] readthemessage 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well, I know he's not played well enough, but Tottenham does have the striker from the Brazilian national team

I just noticed your instance. It's my first time seeing a Brazilian instance. Thank you!

But I think you're being overly optimistic. He can play off of somebody, but I don't think he can lead the line.

There are dozens of us!

[–] sabreW4K3@lemmy.tf 2 points 1 year ago

I'm so happy to see you all here!

[–] readthemessage 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, he does not play the same, but depending on what the coach plans to do Tottenham doesn't to be in a hurry and overpay to buy someone.

[–] sabreW4K3@lemmy.tf 2 points 1 year ago

We'll have to wait and see. Obviously I don't want you to be too successful, given that we're rivals.

[–] Princeali311@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah as guys below said, Richarlson is likely the in-house replacement, but I'm sure we could use the funds to make upgrades elsewhere

CB for one. I know we just got van de Ven, but it's needed

[–] sabreW4K3@lemmy.tf 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Defense has been a massive issue for you lot for a couple years now, hopefully you finally get it sorted.

BTW, not sure if you know about it but there's a Tottenham community here: !coys@lemmy.world

Yeah, the amount of matches bottled in the last half was brutal. And thanks! I'm already subbed there. Trying to get it more active. Hopefully more reddit people jump ship.

I think all the football communities should come together and create an instance. LemmyFC.fans or LemmyFC.sport (since .football is already registered) or something like that. Then football fans will find it easier to find their teams and related communities.

During the developer AMA the other day, they said it only costs $10 a month to host Lemmy.ml. If the admins from the club communities came together and put $1-2 a month it could easily work. As it got more and more popular, I'm sure donations would come in.

But I think, especially on .world, it's hard find all the football communities. You only need to look at https://fanaticus.social/ to see how successful it can and should be and football is way bigger than NFL.

it's not done until it's done already report came out that it's not sure.

Kane's era, I suppose becoming record goalscorer for a team, being central to everything for almost a decade, counts as an era. If not, I don't know what would.
