“I did not know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black and now wants to be known as Black,” Trump said.

“I respect either one," he added, "but she obviously doesn't, because she was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden, she made a turn and she went she became Black. ... Somebody should look into that too.” Trump said.

LMFAO. It's as if he can't grasp the idea Harris is a mix of both a Jamaican born Father and Indian born Mother who also married a Jewish man.

But yeah, she just now turned black and hates Jews... hmmhmm, sure lmao.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 29 points 11 months ago

The old man's brain are mush.

[–] AnarchistArtificer@slrpnk.net 5 points 11 months ago

It's almost funny how close he is to getting it; Kamala isn't half Indian and half Jamaican, but 100% both of those things, and also this is in no way contradictory to the fact that Harris is American. Trump is a shortsighted dumbass but his confusion is actually legit here because what's happening is his mental model of race and ethnicity isn't compatible with the reality of how race, ethnicity and heritage is understood for many people. If only he would show a modicum of introspection, this confusion might've been a useful learning point. Unfortunately, he will allow himself no such growth.

Weird old racist goes on weird old racist rant when confronted by black journalists. This guy belongs in a nursing home, not the Oval Office. If conservatives were capable of shame, they'd see how embarrassing it is that this doddering old weirdo is their nominee.

[–] ptz@dubvee.org 27 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Not just any nursing home. A really shitty one.

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The one from Bubba Ho-Tep where he gets what little is left of his soul sucked out of his ass by a mummy.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 1 points 11 months ago

Hahaha completely forgot about that movie. Good shit.

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 9 points 11 months ago

The privatized kind where the owners abandon their residents the moment that the profit:inconvenience margin gets too narrow, even though it's against state law?

You know the kind I'm taking about!

The ones where the workers volunteer their own time and resources to try to keep the residents alive, but then they have to make some difficult decisions and let some of the patients die because of shitty voters who support shitty politicians and none of them care about anyone but themselves and would rather die painfully without dignity than help the defenseless?

I agree! You shit this bed, now you get to die from septic shock in it.

"You called about our first available room?" "No, I said your WORST available room"

[–] cm0002@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago

Man is that Trump guy weird, did you know that he's deeply part of that weird Project 2025 thing? Ya know Trump's Project 2025

[–] WhatYouNeed@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

"This guy belongs in a nursing home"

Better yet: a secure mental institution.

We can be sure that no Native American is ever going to save his arse, like Nicholson in one flew over the cuckoo's nest.

This is probably the single most racist thing (current not decades old) he has said that can’t be explained away with any reasonable answer, of course Republicans won’t give a shit.

Good news is this is flagrant enough that piled on with the last few weeks have been going it will potentially help move the needle with more reasonably minded people. Crazy to think people still need to be convinced to come off the sidelines at this stage, but that’s just reality.

This was a very public and very bad gaff, even for him.

The DEI hire question. He turned on the person that asked the question to define it. She did.

Did you mean to imply that she is only there because she is black, a woman or both and not because she is capable.

DEI is just a dogwistle and from the mouth of a conservative it should be treated as a slur. They use it instead of using the wordt they want to say like c...nt, n...gger, sp...ck.. you name it. They corrupted and coopted the word and now use it as a stand in for all the words they cannot openly say.

She should have pressed him hard on what he meant with DEI.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

You have an odd code of which slurs and swears to censor.

Edit: Honestly, I think you used underscores to replace the 'u' in cunt and the 'i' in the bad one, which italicized your words. Not sure why you wrote out all of the bad one though. I'm guessing you changed your mind half way through.

[–] Badeendje@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)
  • It was late.
  • not writing out the full words was always the intention
  • never realised the asterixses would be eaten by markup this way

I updated my post. Wonderful to be called out like this. It was a mistake, I'm not american so the word does not carry the same weight for me, but I tried to be sensitive about it.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Given the nature of the topic and the mistake made, I thought it was funny, so I just tried to point it out in a joking manner. Perhaps my intention didn't translate well over text, which was why I also included the edit to try and explain how I thought it happened.

[–] Badeendje@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

All good buddy.. it was indeed a very stupid mistake... By me!

[–] elbarto777@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

No, fuck that. I'll continue using DEI as it was intended. To convey Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

If the fuckers want to use it as a dog whistle, be my guest. It's a weak-ass whistle anyway.

If it's not DEI, then it will be something else. I'd rather continue thinking of something positive when someone mentions "DEI."

"Oh, you're not the best for this job, you're a DEI hire" - "I'm quite capable and if they hired me because of DEI then ALL THE BETTER. About time for me to catch up to what's given to you for the same fucking reason (your skin color), asshole."

Replace DEI with awesomeness. "You didn't get the job because you're the best. You got it because they think you're awesome." - "Welp... I can live with that!"

[–] Badeendje@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

That sounds reasonable to me. Just like a couple of black kids using the N word amongst themselves is different from some white dude using it. But I think it's also good people recognize when DEI hire is used in a derogatory way... And this is exactly what don snorleone did. Exactly like the lady defined it.

[–] p5yk0t1km1r4ge@lemmy.world 23 points 11 months ago (2 children)

My god he seems to genuinely be terrified. Holy shit!

[–] revelrous@sopuli.xyz 7 points 11 months ago

I confess I generally turn media off when he starts talking, but I wanted to see how bad this was.

And he sounds straight up panicked through the first part. I think he finally hears himself and forcibly tries to reign it in during the Massey answer.

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 22 points 11 months ago

What a weird thing for a dangerously old man to say?

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I do believe Kamala Harris has been Black a lot longer than Donald Trump has been orange.

[–] FunderPants@lemmy.ca 22 points 11 months ago (1 children)

He woke up one day and decided to become Orange. Someone should look into that.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 5 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

That shit is definitely weird as fuck.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Member that time trump turned rapist? And that other time? And

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Many such cases.

[–] frickineh@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

Yeaaah this whole thing went about as well as I expected. His public speaking is a shitshow at the best of times and this was definitely not the best of times for a senile, racist liar.

[–] tacosplease@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

Trump has literally donated to Harris before.

One reason we know this is because he offered the information as proof that he "isn't racist". Because he donated to a black woman.

Seemed to know she was black when he made those racially problematic statements.

He probably just forgot since then because he's old as fuck.

[–] cristo@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Is he trying to make her out to be a Rachel Dolezal type person?
