Interesting.
What is a ruin? We’re running off of “You know it when you see it” at the moment. Ruins should be non-functioning structures of some age, or their function reduced to tourism and the like.
Generally speaking, specific items from a ruin should go to !historyartifacts@lemmy.world
Illustrations of ruins (or their reconstructions) should go to !historyillustrations@lemmy.world
Photos of ruins back when they were functioning should go to !HistoryPorn@lemmy.world

Interesting.
Every time I see the calligraphy and intricate details of Islamic architecture, I’m reminded of just how short my attention span is. Can’t imagine carving all of that.
And my zero artistic talent
This Minaret features heavily in a book by British Politician Rory Stewart, "The Places in Between" He also started a non-profit to try and preserve the culture and traditions of the local area. It's a very interesting book, I highly suggest reading it.
The Graveyard of Empires would regularly top my countries to visit if I could guarantee my safety... and had the disposable cash.
Am I the only one thinking "Wizard tower!"
What flavor of jam?
