Hi, everyone!

This is Blaed, moderator of !fosai@lemmy.world. I just wanted to let you know my main account 'Blaed' is currently banned. I'm not sure why. At this moment, we are flying into the unknown. Thankfully, I don't think we have any bad actors at play here.

I'm almost certain I simply forgot to double check a verification email or something buried in my old email inbox (I've recently switched domains and hosting providers). I'm messaging the admins on this account to reverify myself and regain access to 'Blaed'.

I have no reason to believe this has anything to do with the contents of our community or any wrongdoings against myself. I was surprised to wake up one day and see I was banned. It was more amusing than annoying, but I'll figure it out. Don't worry about it.

When I regain access to the account I'll be doing all sorts of updates and content cycles for us to engage with. I'm hoping to get this resolved within the next week or so.

According to the modlog Blaed@lemmy.world was banned 3 days ago for spam, with a 2 day expiry. Maybe one of your posts was interpreted as spam?

Should be okay again. The expiry time is over.

I'd be interested in a follow up. Seems a bit weird to me to temporarily ban someone without notice and without explanation for 3 posts.

[Edit: Sorry. The modlog meant in x days, not x days total. So you weren't unbanned yet. But now it shows the ban really expired.]

All is well. My gut instinct was right. I missed the verification email from my (now) decommissioned domain. It has been updated, admins were very helpful in this regard.

This seems like a relevant time to mention that I have plans hosting our own Lemmy instance, geared towards FOSAI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, open-source education, and other subprojects I’m excited to share with everyone (hopefully) later this year. Time is a fickle thing, so I can’t make any hard commitments until I figure a few things out - just know there is more to fosai than this community. All will be revealed in due time.

Nothing about this community will change. If anything, I see it growing to become a friendly gateway for others who share similar interests and want to dive further into the material.

Whatever it is, I hope you find what you’re looking for. Just know I’m only getting started. You are all early to the party. So much more has yet to be explored, so much more has yet to be seen.
