Pretty much. I'll def never log in again.

I'm done with Reddit as much as I can be. Conveniently they placed a block on my account because of "suspicious activity". So that helped.

For browsing I have converted to Lemmy. For getting answers from a Google search I still click on the Reddit option. Lemmy doesn't show on a Google search and other forums are useless for information. Minus stack overflow.

Not by itself, no.

My current replacements for reddit are:

  1. A kbin account for serious-posting
  2. This Lemmy account for the shitposting (and for communities on lemmy.ml which blanket bans all kbin instances)
  3. Tildes.net for the extra-serious-posting
  4. (Eventually) an RSS reader
  5. Libreddit and a redirector extension for search results

I personally prefer to keep my shitposting from my serious-posting and I also wanted to see what kbin was like, so it kinda worked out well enough (aside from .ml)

[–] chuwu@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There wre communies on .ml that blanket bans kbin?

Yes, but I also use Squiggy too

[–] WishbackJumpsta@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

I am not I've found it - its nice to have a real "FRONT PAGE" again.

No bots reposting for Karma, no ads.

just people on a forum - like how reddit used to be.

Im so happy I found this place

[–] mjbennison@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

So far this year I have gone Twitter -> Mastodon and now Reddit -> Lemmy. Not all the people/subs I used to interact with have moved, but I don't miss them - well maybe some of the games subs but I'm sure at some point they'll appear. In general more than happy with the move :)

[–] AndreTelevise@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I pretty much replaced Reddit with Lemmy, and might even delete my Reddit account at some point. I think I'm not visiting this website often enough, but that's because it's not as tantalizing as Reddit, especially on web. But I do want to visit this place more often. I don't want to miss out on what's happening.

RIF user for over a decade, Reddit is dead to me. Haven't looked back.

[–] vinzen@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I did! To be honest I started to use Mastodon much more, but whenever I want to go back to old Reddit vibes, it’s Lemmy only

[–] Valmond@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Sure do.

I love the idea behind a decentralized discussion-world!

I'm trying to ser up my own Lemmy, but damn, it is hard sweating!

[–] savas@infosec.pub 3 points 1 year ago

Yup.

What people should be aware of and spread awareness of the fact that Reddit did not become popular in a day, week or month. Secondly the content that makes reddit valued comes from the users, the community and that can be reproduced and continued at Lemmy.

[–] manapropos@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 1 year ago

I’ve been strictly here and 4chan

Yes, I am now 90% on Lemmy - the new Memmy app for my iPad is close to Apollo-quality and Liftoff on my Android phone (S21) is β€œalmost” as good as Sync for Reddit was.

For Reddit, I am using RSS feeds only to browse for any posts that interest me - I am trying to not give them traffic if at all possible.

The content on Lemmy is getting better every day!

[–] Lynchy@reddthat.com 2 points 1 year ago

Yes I'm here to join the lemmings

Slowly but surely. I can no longer check porn subs on Joey for Reddit so I might try to accelerate the migration.

[–] kazerniel@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

For actual conversations, yeah. I still check one subreddit daily for game leak updates, but that's pretty much it.

[–] nigh7y@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

I've already managed to replace Reddit on mobile. On the desktop, however, I'm partially there. There are still a couple of communities I follow that only exist on reddit.

[–] Fleppensteijn@feddit.nl 2 points 1 year ago

Yes. I used both for a while but Reddit got quiet and no point in using Reddit without the apps.

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Sucks for videos and gifs though. I don't want to click a blind link to see a gif or video

[–] slaacaa@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yes. For me, reddit was Apollo, haven’t used it since

Yes. I stopped using Reddit during the blackouts and haven’t turned back. Lemmy so far has been a good replacement in all ways. Fuck spez!

[–] nonexertion@lemmy.run 2 points 1 year ago

Yeap, I moved a week before on Lemmy. Took couple of days to figure out how it actually works.

During that time opened a bunch of accounts on different instances.

Now I am on a small instance, which is near my location, so speed is good.

I stopped visiting that place since then. Now I only contribute here. I don't want to give them free labor so that they can make money.

[–] thesalamander@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah, deleted RIF early and just pretend it doesn't exist. I'll probably use it if a useful answer pops up on Google, but not for scrolling.

Lemmy and Threads will have to fill the gap for now, but if they grow I don't see a problem at all.

[–] sveri@lemmy.sveri.de 2 points 1 year ago

I like it way more here. It's so much faster and there are no ads.

The reddit app is just bad and slow.

[–] EeeDawg101@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I’m fully on Lemmy now except when I need to find historical information - for example episode discussions from a TV show or how to fix computer issues, etc.

[–] TheSleepMovement@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

So far yep! Why not?

Reddit has no loyalty to me so why should I have to it?

Ultimately I just want some interesting useless funny shit to look at. Doesn't matter where it comes from.

This is my first Lemmy comment ever!

[–] Boozilla@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yup. I was checking in with reddit for a while there but have stopped. I like the vibe of this place so far.

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago

Please dont tell anyone how I live

[–] goodgame@feddit.uk 2 points 1 year ago

Well, this is nice, hello

Other than some specific subs, yes

[–] Metasyntactic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yes. This is my new Reddit replacement
