During the first Bush presidency I tried to kill myself, and obviously failed. I also engaged in a lot of self harm that I still carry the scars of today.

You need community, and you need joy. Those can get you through almost anything. It will get you through plague and death and suffering.

That doesn’t mean “just have a good time and ignore everything”, it means support the people who need you and take care of yourself as well, and reach out for help when you can’t.

I intend to try to stay alive. But I also intend to be aware that my chances of survival have dropped significantly.

I've got my current survival odds at "50% - suffer but probably make it, 10% - murdered by the fascist regime in some direct way, 40% - dead by social services being stripped to the bone"

Can't believe my only hope now is Trump et co's incompetence in pushing through their own fascist cunt plans.

On a more practical note, as a multiple-suicide-attempt survivor, I can assure anyone here that surviving a suicide attempt fucking sucks. No method is 100%, no matter how hard you try, and you come away with physical and mental scars. If skipping a suicide attempt is at all an option, you absolutely should skip it.
