Very nice programming socks :3

[–] OsrsNeedsF2P@lemmy.ml 11 points 5 hours ago

Yes I like them

Hmm, does clothing up as a girl really feel that good?

Plot twist: They're a they/them user and you just misgendered them either way.

Shakespear rolling in his grave because even he used singular they...

[–] felykiosa@sh.itjust.works 15 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I don't get it , I'm French btw

Instead of "s/he is" you can say "they are", even though it's singular. "They" is the preferred pronoun for any situation where gender is unclear or (usually, but not always) for non binary people.

Oh sorry I brutaly translated this from French where we say" iel " (contraction of "Elle" and "il" our feminine and masculine pronoun). I already saw they but I didn't thought about it.

It's all good! The fact that you want to be inclusive is great. They have a contraction for nonbinary pronouns in french? that's awesome.

Well, it's a neopronoun, so while it's popular enough for most people to understand what it means, in my experience "iel" sadly gets a lot of pushback ("oh but we don't do that in French" etc.) which means it's rarely used in contexts other than to refer to non-binary people who have expressed a preference for "iel".

Yeah that sounds familiar

To be fair though, thigh highs are really nice to calm down restless leg, so sometimes they actually are pretty good for programming

[–] sadbehr@lemmy.nz 1 points 30 minutes ago

Do you mean restless leg as in when you're trying to sleep and your legs are going haywire?

[–] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 49 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Can't believe you'd suggest that's the only way thigh-highs would be good for programming, I'm insulted

[–] python@programming.dev 71 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

They do also hook your brain up to the girl-matrix, allowing you to tap into the shared brainpower of all other thigh-high wearers for your programming. But that's common knowledge, so I didn't feel like I had to mention it

[–] Draconic_NEO@pawb.social 1 points 38 minutes ago* (last edited 10 minutes ago)

girl-matrix

That implies that thigh highs are girly, which doesn't make sense since they're just long comfy socks that go up to your thighs (as the name implies), anyone can wear them, doesn't matter if they're a girl, boy, or even NonBinary

[–] j4k3@lemmy.world 29 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

That explains it. I made it through the entire Eaternet, the bread board computer, 6502; all that. But pipelines and out of order instructions of the girl-matrix are just beyond my registers.

Yeah, sometimes it's more trouble than it's worth. The girls keep transpiling my perfectly fine Javascript code to Rust >:(
