It seems like our birding community here has reached 1 thousand subscribers! I am very glad that there's this many birding enthusiasts here on Lemmy already :-)

I just want to take this time to welcome everyone to this community (do you still say "sub" even here on Lemmy?) and hope you enjoy your time here :-) Been seeing a lot of interesting bird posts here lately already.

Now, this is the first time I've ever moderated a community like this so I've no idea if there's anything that's missing. If you have any suggestions, feel free to tell me!

I heard this guy chirping very loudly and spotted him enjoying a meal. It's rate that I'm able to see them eating this close, since they usually carry their catch away 😂

Near Darlington Park in Ontario.

Feral Pigeons (lemmy.world)

St Mary's Churchyard, Reading UK

I decided I was being snobbish by ignoring an obvious flock of "wild" birds in easy reach: in my local town centre - though sadly the light today was not that great.

One of my books lists four broad types, all represented here: Chequered, Rock Dove type, Pied and Ginger.

Fluffy Pigeon (lemmy.world)

This is my favorite pigeon of the goofy balcony crew. She moves very funny, and often times she fluffs up her head feathers which i find super cute, like in the picture, but the other feathers aren't fluffed up.

She and her lover came by with their baby, but i try to have a heart of stone and not feed them to not disturb the breeding couple on my balcony. Her lover is also very funny.

Not sure how you all feel about pigeon content in here. I love pigeons.

Sadly, no more bird pics. I saw a Steller's Jay but couldn't get a good photo of it
