I installed mullvad in my work's desktop, it connected to the internet and today it doesn't want to connect to any server. I'm using the default wire guard settings, I've disabled and enable my desktop interface, I've released and renewed ip...I've tried different setting under the wireguard option but can't connect to any server....is there any setting I should enable or disable in the app to get it connected again? Thank you.

Hey guys, looking for some assistance. The title is pretty self explanatory but some more info below as follows.

When I use vpn on my home WiFi, doesn't matter what device (Phone, Mac, PC etc) it shows no Internet. The vpn works on every other network I've tried without issue. I should add, my home WiFi is provided by my school that I work at. I have tried the vpn on the school public WiFi and it works without issue.

Is the school blocking access on their? Or is it a router issue?

Thanks in advance

For a while now I've been having trouble accessing devices on my lan through chrome when mullvad is enabled. Here is a screenshot trying to connect to my home assistance instance on LAN. The same address works fine in firefox and safari when mullvad is turned on. This only happens on chrome on macos.

  1. quality of server speed and latency suffered
  2. they now own "less" and rent more
  3. total disregard for openvpn (and DCO) servers, no DAITA either
  4. Quantum thing is a joke as they can't detect an attack.
  5. port forward gone! what happened to keeping ur words?
  6. support takes days to reply back and really went downhill now
  7. still no way to proxy app, even Signal allows that
  8. lackluster app development but bugs all around

Go back to pandemic or better i'd say year 2018 times were much much better. peace out from me too much life and time invested and now wasted over this... sory for rant but needed to be said maybe even sooner

I noticed that even with lockdown mode if I hotspot with my Pixel 7 (Android 14 AP2A.240805.005, Mullvad 2024.3) and check Mullvad's website the hotspot seemingly bypasses the VPN connection, is there a way to change this or do some apps just have a permanent bypass for VPNs?

I've had an issue for a couple of months where every 5-10 minutes, seemingly at random, Mullvad just disconnects and gets stuck in a loop trying to reconnect. The temporary fix is to disconnect to stop it getting stuck, and then manually reconnecting. That fixes it for little while before it happens again. When it does reconnect, my speeds are massively reduced. I go from about 500mbps to 15mbps, and my ping skyrockets to above 2000ms.

I've tried different servers, using switching between openvpn and wireguard, turning on and off ipv6, changing the port, changing obfuscation and quantum-resistant tunnelling, but none of these options have worked.

Some hardware information:

  • OS: Arch Linux 6.10.6 (also tried LTS kernel, no luck)
  • Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B450-I
  • Wifi card: Intel AX200

Haven't tried running on Ethernet, would prefer to not have to run a cable from the router but I might try and see if that helps.

It's just becoming really frustrating. I've been an avid supporter of Mullvad for years, but this has been a really souring experience. Hoping that this can be resolved soon. I did a bit of searching and came across this thread on GitHub reporting this issue, but the proposed workaround doesn't really work and there hasn't been any activity or comment from the devs. Anyone else having this issue?

I have no idea how to find my Voucher or where in the world it gets sent to since it doesn't have my email address. No clue what to do I pasted in every number I the receipt, tried my payment token number and account number and I'm feeling a bit dumb right and if anyone knows what's going onnid appreciate any bit of help. And many many apologies on clogging up the reddit but I genuinely can't find any information regarding what is the Voucher and how to finnit so I can put it in.

I am a videographer traveling through China at the moment, and I have made some local friends.

They have asked to follow me on social media to see what I produce, however, I am only posting to YouTube and Instagram. Both of which are blocked here in China, along with most VPN apps.

After explaining to them, what a VPN was, I was able to install Mullvad on my Chinese friends Android phone by downloading the APK on my phone, putting it onto a USB flash drive and inserting it into his phone and installing it. The Mullvad website was blocked on his phone as well but I was able to sign him up to an account using my phone.

I have now made a new local friend who also wants to follow me on YouTube/Instagram but because they have an iPhone, I am unable to side load the Mullvad app like on android.

If I search for the app in the App Store, nothing comes up. And if I find the app on apps.apple.com it just says "app not available in your region"

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get around this?

Please help me help this local get past the Great Firewall of China

I think it’s an Amazing tool , I have super fast Internet access, So running my traffic through another Service is Ace!

It’s like Tor in a way , it’s adding another layer of security.

This is why I Love Mullvad!

Normal traffic I generate goes through Mullvad's utun interface.

Traffic I send from VLAN 10 to VLAN 20 on my network also goes through the utun interface. Is this expected? On the MacOS client, this is occurring, however, on the iOS client it does not appear to be happening.

Some information:

  • MacOS version 2024.4
    • "Local Sharing" - enabled
    • "Enable IPv6" - disabled
    • "Split Tunneling" - disabled
    • "Tunnel Protocol" - WireGuard
    • Basically all other defaults
  • iOS version 2024.4
    • Basically all defaults

Hey everyone,

I’ve been using Mullvad VPN along with a SOCKS5 proxy in the Mullvad browser for additional IP masking, but I’m concerned about potentially exposing my DNS requests, especially if the VPN connection drops. I understand that Mullvad’s Kill Switch and Lockdown Mode should block all internet traffic if the VPN disconnects, but I’m not fully confident about how DNS requests are handled in this scenario, particularly when the SOCKS5 proxy is also in play.

I followed all the steps in the Mullvad browser extension to set it up and periodically check it to make sure that it’s all green.

However, this description on the Mullvad website makes me feel less sure of this setup:

‘The proxy provides the following:

Kill switch (DNS leaks) If you disconnect Mullvad VPN while you are connected to a proxy then the Internet traffic will be blocked in the browser. This is because you can only reach the proxy when you are connected to Mullvad VPN. However your DNS will leak when you are disconnected from Mullvad, even if you have enabled "Proxy DNS".’

This seems like a real security flaw and I’m not sure why Mullvad would be promoting the extension in that case? For instance, the internet goes down, what happens in this scenario? I’m sure I’m just not getting something…

Can anyone shed some light on this please? Thanks!

I installed the Brave browser today. I am finding Mullvad works far more quickly then it did with Firefox.

Trying to connect mullvad on openwrt via ssh bridges, ssh-tunnel app installed, openvpn installed, openssl installed, luci-ttyd installed, tried to do as mullvad tutorial said. "ssh -f -N -D 1234 mullvad@185.213.154.117" result was connection reset by peer, i NEED to use ssh bridges since i am in restricted location and cannot connect with other bridges, on my android i successfuly use v2ray bridges but my openwrt router doesn't have enough memory for it installed, i only have ssh-tunnel option for my router

If I am running multiple docker images in an Ubuntu VM and don't want to pass the traffic through another docker image that is connected to Mullvad I can make sure the Ubuntu VM is always connected to Mulvad and that should secure everything. Is that correct?

Recently Mullvad has become extremely frustrating. It constantly disconnects and takes a long time to establish a connection. When it is connected, at times sites won’t load and say I’m not connected to the internet. Also YouTube has become a nightmare, videos freeze every few minutes and often won’t even load (also says I’m offline). Anyone experiencing similar issues or know of a fix?

I’m ready to cancel and stick with Proton at this point.

I know it uses 500kib when a new Tunnel is formed

This doesn’t really bother me as I’ve an unlimited all you can eat data plan And & It doesn’t slow down my speeds

When I watch movies or watching YT In HD it’s smooth, I don’t notice it

I’d love to hear from people that know a lot more about Tech that I do, As a Lot Does go over my head

I’d love to Know the Pro’s & Con’s of using it & should it be left on Automatic.?

Suppose my Linux host already connected to some mullvad vpn server with the official gui app.

Now, it should be able to use some hostname e.g. fk-xyz-wg-socks5-001.relays.mullvad.net:1080 as a socks5 proxy.

But in proxychains you can only use numeric ip. So you can nslookup the above hostname and get something like 10.124.0.x or 10.124.1.x.

Now, suppose I put many of these ip into the proxylist

10.124.0.1

10.124.0.2

...

10.124.0.x

As long as the chain length is 1, the proxychains work fine (which is obvious). But when the length up to 2, it said "socket error or timeout".

So basically I have 3 noob questions.

(1) Is it possible to make above works? How? What should I change?

(2) Am I having some misconceptions about how socks5 works? Can you correct me?

(3) If this actually work, what benefits you can get from it. Or it just totally wastes of time and harm other normal users bandwidth.

I am using 10..1.1.X to 10.1.7.x for my internal network. Mullvad is also using a 10.x.xx network but there is no conflict. I am using Opnsense as my router at 10.1.1.2 and have Unbound as my DNS server.

With Mullvad active it does not query my local DNS server at 10.1.1.2 as expected but I am then unable to resolve my internal devices. If I go into the Mulvad settings and add 10.1.1.2 as a DNS server the leak test is failing because it is then forwarding to Cloudflared.

How can I still use a local DNS server for my network but have everything else go through Mulvad?

Mullvad has been working great for me, but unfortunately its just stopped working all together for some reason.

I've got my desktop connected to my internet via range extender, which caused a few DNS issues for me (before downloading mullvad) which was remedied by restarting my main router.

Anyway, I've connected it up to qBittorent and every time I connect there is a 90% chance that the internet will drop (rather than it saying I have no internet, it just keeps loading and times out).

I've reinstalled and have had a basic mess around with the settings but can't get it to work for the life of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I just grabbed it for a month to try, but there's serious speed issues I'm having trouble fixing. With other VPn providers I've used, connection speed isn't an issue. I tried following the guide at the mullvad site and set it to Wireguard, using a local server, changed wireguard port, set MTU, made sure multihop was off, made sure obfuscation was off. I'm still getting 900kBps speeds. My line is synchronous gigabit, and I'm running pfsense on a server with plenty or processing power dedicated. I usually hit full line speed. Using other VPN services, I am able to hit about 70-80% of line speed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tried on all three of my devices, same issue. After I enter my CC information and try to click the Submit button, there is a red circle with a line through it and the submit option is grayed out.

How can I get my payment through? Do they not accept Amex or something?
