Or, for that matter, just making a new game with a similar genre.
The crazy thing is that supermassive have been bringing out games very regularly. They didn't need this to fill out their portfolio
obviously, but that's tons more work. what I'm saying is if you're gonna remake anything, just pick something that is truly outdated or has obtuse controls or something.
They did that with Tomb Raider, but ironically the obtuse controls were pivotal to the game design.
idk man I can see the appeal of tank controls for alone in the dark and resident evil but tomb raider is kind of an action adventure. idk the remake you're talking but I'd much rather play it normally today.
It wasn't the tank controls per se. It was the tile based actions. Tomb Raider was basically a 3D Prince of Persia game. If you're running and you press the jump button, the character would jump the next time to got to the edge of the current tile. It was a very deliberate and measured way to plan your moves.
oh damn, I don't even remember that! yeah in that case you're right. the original pop is still one is my favorite games ever, and I will not have tile based controls fucked with. that's why the remake of that game was cool to see but wasn't nearly as satisfying to play.
My favourite was Flashback. Kind of the spiritual sequel to Another World. I had the SNES version. I think it's my all time favourite video game.
i was in love with flashback. played both, but i always found another world a bit obtuse and clunky. right from the get go the slugs are one of the worst things I've ever encountered in a game. but flashback's controls were perfect. and it still looks amazing today! also the cutscenes and worldbuilding just mesmerized me.
The sequel Fade to Black was too clunky to enjoy. I never played the remake but I hear the remake is getting a sequel, so I might pick it up.
