Gen X didn't have it easy after the boomers filled up all positions up to the mid/late 70s.
OP's parents are probably older.
That or gen X is completely glossed over as they always are and the Zoomer > Millennial > Boomer idea is maintained
As a gen-xer, I find all of this super annoying and I'm thrilled not to be a part of it
