Not sure in general but in Southern California in the 1980s, we used to say things like, "I'm going to bolt down lunch then race to school".

Yeah I believe that some people might use it that way. It's just not in my vocabulary. In that same sentence I would substitute "wolf down".

Oh yeah true. I only got it basically by what was left over, plus the fact that it has general meanings of quickness.
