Social media is detrimental to individuals and society.

People in the net often agree, put people irl look at me like I'm the village idiot spouting conspiracy theories.

It's common knowledge now. This is not an unpopular opinion. There's a metric shit ton of research and studies that show all the ways social media is hurting us. There's a plethora of books written about it. It is the most current topic in New Media Theory.

It definitely changed my perspective on society. It seems obvious to me now that not everyone should be doing the "thinking" even in a free society, and certain social media help aggregate the dullest individuals together. That is of course on top of the other problems, like obsessing with appearences and web addiction.
