Eggs should not be affordable. They should be so expensive that The farmers go out of business.
The egg industry is a living nightmare. Baby boy chicks literally get thrown into a blender as soon as they're born.

What are you talking about? Yes, they feel pain. They are sentient, just like us, and don't want to die. You think humans are some one-off special thing and are the only ones that can observe the universe and have experiences? Sorry to tell you, but our brains aren't that different from others.

Paying for them to be endlessly birthed into existence just to be thrown into a blender is a bad thing. letting them grow up after they're born would just be affording them the same basic rights that we give ourselves.
Stopping them being born would be the best thing.
