"Maybe in the DOGE boys' video game simulations, it doesn't matter if they lay off hundreds of staff from the FAA. In the real world, however, it will make flying less safe," said Public Citizen's Robert Weissman.

I’m anti-DOGE and anti-Trump, but I’m not a fan of weaponizing disinformation.

It’s not that there’s more plane crashes now. The news is just covering them more.

of course not. it will take some time for the effects to kick in in that regard. we won't know for years.

Absolutely. We’re going to suffer the effects of Trump’s shit show for some time. But it’s disinformation to say imply that’s why we’re seeing these plane crashes now.

Good thing both the original post article title and content do not do that then. most likely implies the future and that is what the article talks about. Nice to know about the unrelated concern about disinformation though.

Oh man. No. Increased media focus on a particular issue to manufacture concern is nothing new, and not at all unrelated.

You should read Manufacturing Consent.

This is a pretty big issue. I don't think its an unwarranted level of focus. Im not sure if its on this thread or elsewhere but I have mentioned a bigger issue for folks is airport delays which is actually whats going to piss people off more around the cuts.

There’s a lot implying that the crashes being covered are being caused by the Trump cuts, and that’s simply not true (yet).

are we reading the same article because im not seeing that?

It's like the "sudden" increase in railway derailments we saw not long ago.

Some of y'all let the media lead you around by the fucking nose.

(Not you OP, if that wasn't clear.)

Also same as the news & politicians across the country spreading lies about increased crime to justify increased police budgets. In reality, crime is way down.
