It's it just me, or do these sales get worse every year?

The sales were way better maybe like 10 years or so ago, but when they ended the "flash sales" to instead guarantee that the sale price of a game won't change during the sale, they also kind of neutered the sales imo. They're still alright, but they used to be consistently better.

I get why they ended the flash sales, and I'm not even sure if it's related or just a separate choice that they made at the same time.

Fortunately, price info is actually tracked! If you use the SteamDB browser extension you can see the historical low price right on a game's product page on Steam.

For example, Terraria is on sale for it's 2 year low price of $4.99, but the lowest it's ever been is $1.99 (a little over ten years ago).

Oooo nice, I did not know about that, thank you!

https://www.isthereanydeal.com/

This site not only shows you historical data on steam, but on 3rd party sites and other launchers as well (fully configurable). And it'll send you a mail is any game in your wait list meets any of the criteria you set (e.g. under $10, lowest historical price, etc.)

That's definitely getting bookmarked, thanks!
