US can cut building emissions by up to 91%, saving $100 billion a year in energy-related costs, modeling study shows::The US has committed to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. To accomplish this goal, large cuts in emissions are necessary, especially in high-emission sectors like the building industry.

One of my takeaways is they are using 100 year planning horizon and proposing building codes as a useful tool

Certainly updating building codes to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions are necessary. However that’s way too small a piece of the puzzle with way too long a time period

We don’t have 100 years to reduce carbon by 90%
