I found that Star Trek Discovery was a bit too forced when it came to introduce inclusivity and diversity which made a lot of the interactions between those people feel very unnatural and forced.

Doe not get me wrong I Am All for representation inclusivity and diversity but it feel natural. And not like it's another quota that has to be reached I think they missed nail on that one because I found the characters quite interesting in immersive especially the science officer but some of the interactions just completely pull me out of that immersion I don't know if other people share this opinion with me but that's what I think of Star Trek Discovery and I think that's kind of cringe

by the 4th season you can clearly tell they wanted only one demographic as the crew. when ST has always have been about everyone else, not just one demographic.

hen ST has always have been about everyone else, not just one Exactly that was the whole point of the Federation everyone could join, There has been klingons too working in the fed.

It seems like every episode of Discovery must contain:

  • A red alert
  • A fistfight or space battle
  • Egregious unnecessary special effects
  • A tear-filled conversation, often at a very inappropriate time
  • A character saying "When I was younger" to start a stupid overwrought reason why the current mission has personal meaning for them due to some deep trauma or insecurity
  • Somebody saying how important it is to "connect" with others
  • Some race against the clock that would not be needed if the characters would quit crying to each other and act like goddamn professionals
  • Cringeworthy unprofessional levels of awkwardness

I'm speed-hatewatching my way through it, on season 5 right now and I can't wait until this stupid shit is over.

I fully agree with your assasement, it gives me alot of SBI/DEI vibes as if there is a certain quota to be reached.

It looks more like it was about bringing a message acros that pure entertainment, sure it had its moments epic ones too.

But the execution of the acting part was very disappointing.

Discovery was the cringiest Trek series from start to finish. Naming a woman a guy's name was so cringe and unnatural. Yea staments was interesting, but they marginalized him by the 3rd season as a background characthrr

Exactly staments and that captain with the eye thingy were carrying the show tbh
