“Progressive values” - do they even read the new testament? Compassion is the overt message of the Jesus they claim to follow.
They follow supply side Jesus, the prosperity gospel, and gravitate towards passages that they can use as a cudgel on people who are ew gross yucky to them.
It isn't even supply side Jesus anymore, they are more and more brazen that trump is their god.
This is the truth. Trump is their prophet. Why else does anyone think he posted a meme of himself as the Pope. They know they've created an unbreakable cult and there's nothing that can be done to shatter the indoctrination his zealots are thoroughly infected with.
Seriously, what parts of the Bible do they quote to support their racism, selfishness, greed? How can they be so detached from what they claim to be their religion that they treat the 7 deadly sins as virtues?
Sounds like herecy to me. Oh, wait they're protestants - they actually are heretics. Religion is a funny thing to watch from the ouitside.
All of the values they enjoy following are - in their eyes - only for white Caucasian people of European descent .... the bad parts where you get to punish, threaten, hit, strike, wound, maim or kill applies to everyone else who isn't white, straight and male

Christians need to step up their game and actually follow the teachings of Christ.
The best part is that in the eternal afterlife in heaven ... you never have to worry about your health, your wealth, shelter or hunger ... an absolute Communist Hellscape.
They only care about the parts of the bible that they can use to justify their cruelty to others.
Most of the new testament is for suckers and losers in these peoples' opinion. They are all about the vindictive, crazy shit in the old testament, and a few rare things from the new testament. like Paul's letters.
Kinda funny how perfectly they're described by the phrase "wolves in sheep's clothing", knowing its origin and context.
Of course they didn't. They only use the bible as a prop or to justify their hatred for gay people. None of them ever thought about actually reading the thing.
