My Haitian buddy said that it is a shame that Notre Dame was where the fire stopped
I was going to ask why. Took me a minute, OK?!
Brutal colonialism. That said the building didn't do anything to you, put the displeasure where it belongs ie. The government.
Buildings are symbols, and symbols have power.
A symbol the people paid for directly in this case. Don't burn down your own property, burn down the people in powers property.
Nobody talked about deliberately burning down Notre Dame now, did they?
But I can't hold it against the victims of colonialism if they take joy in symbols of their oppressors burning down.
No one said they did, I said it's not ok to revel in willful property destruction especially if you know Notre Dame is on and island surrounded by houses and businesses not government buildings.
Eh, can't fault the victims of colonialism for thinking this way.
True enough but France has a unique perspective on property destruction. Don't fuck with historic places or hospitals but like basically anything else can catch a moltov.
