So I recently interviewed for a job that I did at a competitor. I was a team leader. I was a Senior engineer. I was going up against 300+ people for a single job and I didn’t even make it to the in person interviews. That’s how hard this market is right now. I have 10 years in the industry. And I can’t find a job besides a store clerk position at a grocery store.

Same, I got laid off recently and 12 years of experience isn't even getting me interviews at in-person jobs.

You might be too expensive tbh... Their goal is to drive down your wage here IMHO

I am not sure if there is away out.

They did similar things in accounting and law post 2008. Looks tech is this crisis flavor of wage suppression

The way out is to pivot away from now-oversaturated fields.

Try from India or wherever they're outsourcing work to

AI is just a fig leaf for the outsourcing that is happening in the industry. SWEs got too fat and now they are being slaughtered by their beloved mage corps...

Online they been told to unionized for better part of the last decade but the mocked us for it because why would they do that!!!

Their daddy good, their daddy treat them right. They are not workers!!!! They are future owners 🤡

Should taken a hint when they were asked to use them Indian or other offshore contractors lol

You literally transferred know how to wage slaves in India and now they are cutting you loose. GG, played urself

This is why I make sure I only train people to an incredibly low standard. Training isn't actually listed in my job role anyway and it ensures job security.

Yes, training them better would be better for the company. I am aware of that, but here we are. Gotta think of myself, because they sure won't.

I know, king, me too. I actually told them if they want me to this sort of thing, I will need to get some sort pay bump for it/proper title.

I am IC, why da faq would i do people with out extra coin. These clowns must have been thinking I am retarded, which I am, but I also respect my labour!

Nothing against lower skilled and/or offshored work force but I aint training my replacement for free. I have seen this trick too many times as is.

FUCK YOU, PAY ME
