Soft serve is not ice cream
Most ice cream isn't ice cream anymore. It is frozen dairy product or sometimes not even dairy, sometimes it's just frozen dessert product.
So what is ice cream then?
Butter - cream churned at cellar/fridge temperature.
Icecream - cream churned around zero degrees celsius.
The more the ingredients stray from: milk, cream, sugar, whatever flavor; the less it’s ice cream.
Figure anything store bought is also going to have some preservatives, but milk, cream, and sugar should be the first 3 things listed else it’s likely “frozen dairy” instead of ice cream.
I have a ninja creami now and can't go back. I know it's not perfect, but everything else just tastes like chemicals.
