In my previous timeline, I was the farmers market lead for Dave, back when he was first starting out, and I learned all sorts of things during my time there. While I might be able to put up an AMA, if there's interest here, I will offer these facts, at least: the bread recipes were from NatureBake (owned by his younger brother who inherited the company when their father passed while Dave was in prison), and all products were made outside of NB's normal production hours by ex-cons working their asses off to make our 5am load-out target every single night.
Oh, and the "Peace Bomb" was my calm-down solution to Dave's nearly-psychotic reaction to an already-late batch of "Sin Dawgs" failing to proof properly, but he took all credit and physically threatened me when I pointed out the disrespect (you ever try to reason w/ a meth-addled T-freak with biceps thicker than your torso?). Don't get me wrong, his family was trying to help him stay clean and supported his untrained attempts to make something of himself post-release, but he was inevitably a lost cause (IIRC, his penchant for ultra-violence on a hair-trigger got him fired & banned from the premises — to which he replied with attempted vehicular manslaughter, destruction of property, etc., and he's been back in prison for several years now.)
Well that was a wild ride. What's a peace bomb?
Yeah, sorry about the lack of formatting. Vgr seems to be glitchy there.
A "Peace Bomb" was named after the way that Dave used to talk to passersby three deep in the Saturday Market crowds (while I engaged with the ones closer) and often pulled a lazy "think fast" lob to random ones — to the point that it became a thing, even made it into the local news. He didn't want to make it a violence thing, a la sports phrasing, so "throwing a bomb" became "throwing a Peace Bomb".
He really did fight a valiant battle against violence both in the world and within himself, to be honest. I truly believed in the message and the work we did together, and it's one of my personal career highlights, frankly. It is a shame that his meth use tarnished that and pretty much ruined his life, but there's a lot of good in those memories, otherwise. 🥰
Interesting stuff, thank you for sharing.
Have fun!
