For anyone, like me, who doesn't know about the meaning of the Black Sun

[–] abbadon420@sh.itjust.works 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

God damnit! In my teens I was pretty hard into a drum-n-bass band called "black sun empire". I feel violated now :(

The Anti-Defamation League notes that though the symbol is popular with white supremacists, imagery resembling the black sun features in many cultures, and that such imagery should always be analyzed in the context in which it appears, as it may not necessarily be intended to serve as a symbol of white supremacy or racism.

i just googled it. Apparently they're just really into star wars, and didn't realize about the Nazi symbol until it was too late.

And it's a damn shame too, because it's a very cool looking symbol. Stupid Nazis ruin everything. >:(

There needs to be some kind of push to take back a lot of symbols from them. There is no reason Norse symbols should still be associated with the worst people ever. There is no saving the swastika however.

Indian cultures would like a word about saving the swastika. I know a few folks who happily have it due to their 'claim of prior art' (or whatever the term is).

no saving it in the western world*
