Men's Liberation

This community is first and foremost a feminist community for men and masc people, but it is also a place to talk about men’s issues with a particular focus on intersectionality.

Rules

Everybody is welcome, but this is primarily a space for men and masc people

Non-masculine perspectives are incredibly important in making sure that the lived experiences of others are present in discussions on masculinity, but please remember that this is a space to discuss issues pertaining to men and masc individuals. Be kind, open-minded, and take care that you aren't talking over men expressing their own lived experiences.

Be productive

Be proactive in forming a productive discussion. Constructive criticism of our community is fine, but if you mainly criticize feminism or other people's efforts to solve gender issues, your post/comment will be removed.

Keep the following guidelines in mind when posting:

  • Build upon the OP
  • Discuss concepts rather than semantics
  • No low effort comments
  • No personal attacks

Assume good faith

Do not call other submitters' personal experiences into question.

No bigotry

Slurs, hate speech, and negative stereotyping towards marginalized groups will not be tolerated.

No brigading

Do not participate if you have been linked to this discussion from elsewhere. Similarly, links to elsewhere on the threadiverse must promote constructive discussion of men’s issues.

I mean that's great and all, except these people that you've consigned to the dustbin of history are now going to actively fight against your causes.

I think that some of them are too far gone but really this toxic environment needs to be fixed or else worse things will come from it. When you say "they should be ignored", that's part of the environment that causes these men to become the next shooter, or maybe just jump off a bridge because they have a conscience.

Whether you like it or not, you need these people to make the right choices, and part of that starts by fostering a more inclusive environment.

They were always actively fighting against any sensible cause though. Ignoring them won't change that at all.

Also we definitely don't need these people. We won 2020 and 2022 without them.

If our collectively ignoring them results in bad outcomes, that is their responsibility, not ours. They are fully-functioning adults and if they want to be taken seriously they must start acting like it. Because I (and I think most Americans) are done being threatened or cajoled by brittle men who think their opinions matter when, both practically and ideologically, they actually don't.

No more think pieces about why Americans in rural towns are being left behind. If they can't figure out that they're leaving themselves behind, at this point, that is entirely on them.

That's a really disappointing viewpoint to have. These are people, and while a lot of the existing ones who have already fallen for the alt-right rhetoric may be too far gone, we should still take steps to make sure more young men don't also fall into that trap. Which includes being more supportive and inclusive regarding men's issues.

Being a person does not necessarily make one worthy of being pandered to. If it did, why are they not dismissing all their political concerns to pander to mine? Why must I stop what I’m doing to cater to them instead of vice versa?

No; this is halfway. Let them come if they want. If not, politics and progress will continue without them.

I'm sorry but is giving a shit about other people a political concern? Jesus Christ that's a hot take. Good luck with that

Ask that of them and then get back to me.

I would but it's mainly children we're talking about preventing from going down the cis male -> alt-right pipeline here. Not random chucklefucks on Twitter
